***Rip Garrett Thread***

I don't know why people are blasting Garrett. He called the plays but I'm sure Romo floated the ball across to Carpenter. I think the second interception was a great play by Houston, but Romo should n't have thrown the ball. The offense can not give back to back touchdowns and win.

Surpassed only the excuse-making of the blind homers.

Well, I have officially been called a homer for the first time since I joined here (a long time ago), so i guess I'm doing something right.

These are the same games that wade phillips was crucified for and people are defending red? Haha... seriously blame goes on the head coach for not taking the pressure of Romo by running it and getting away from the screen game. Both are what they appear to be. Overrated guys that have the ability to shine when least expected.

I don't care to play the scapegoat game (in part because I don't know enough about football to know whether all his calls are bad or whatnot).

However, I couldn't believe the decision to not run the ball on 1st down with 4:22 left and the Cowboys up 3. We get five or six yards on that carry, and you're looking at a whole different ballgame. Instead, Romo goes back to pass, gets pressured, and then throws a prayer off his back foot which of course gets picked off.

Not to take all the blame off Romo or the offensive line, but they should have never been put in that situation to begin with. We needed to be chewing up clock with the run on 1st down.

Yeah, if that's what you aspire to be, mission accomplished.

The stupidity of our fan base never ceases to amaze me. And I do mean STUPID.

Just so we're clear.. you think running the ball to chew clock and set up a manageable third down wouldn't have been a better alternative?

that challenge on the Olgetree NO TD was stupid, it was first and goal, so we wasted a Timeout

Thats is ******** to pin this on Garrett. Real ********.

Maybe its just me, but I am getting sick and tired of having a freaking Madden noob as an OC/HC.

Who the hell is calling shotgun plays with a freaking 24 point lead? Even a freaking pee wee football coach knows you run the ball, play conservative, milk the clock, and protect the ball at all cost. You dont go shotgun 5 wides with a freaking 24 point lead?

Garrett has now presided over the 2 biggest collaspes in the 51 yr history of the franchise. That cannot be swept under the rug, he is one of the worst playcallers in the NFL and there is a reason we are 30th in the NFL scoring TDs in the redzone.

And no, I am not giving Romo a pass either. Just because your offensive coordinator is a ******** Madden noob does not give you a green light to start throwing picks.

Well, we saw how relentless passing worked out.

In fact, I'd take my chances with running from there on out. Up 24 points, you bet your *** I'd take my chances.

you want to blame Romo have at it, cant defend him. To dumb to know its ok to throw the ball away. But when you blame the OC because your QB throws the ball into double coverage not once but twice. I can almost say ok on the jumped slant but it was jumped so early cant even give him a pass on that one

1992 - Dallas in San Francisco, NFC Championship game... SF has just scored to make the game tight... the fans are going crazy... not that much time left in the game...

YOU WOULD SAY... RUN THE BALL!!!! TAKE TIME OFF THE CLOCK!!!

Jimmy Johnson said, "I want to score". The result?

A highlight play that you will watch for years and years... Aikman to Harper... we won.

You guys only know one thing, what YOU would have done AFTER the fact. Right in the midst of the run, run, run, talk, Romo hit Witten today for 37 yards and there wasn't a single one of the complainers saying a word.

I'm on record as having never wanted Garrett as coach. He wasn't even a good offensive coordinator. Don't forget who was 1/2 the problem when the team was 1-7 last year. Screw up and move up. I hope that ain't the "Cowboy Way." 5 More years of Garrett and this garbage.

The first and third interceptions were Romo's fault. The second one was just like you said--it was a great play by Houston.

Garrett is gonna get it no matter what the actual circumstances really were/are.

The Lions scored three touchdowns in the third quarter. Calvin Johnson made a great catch. Blame can only be placed with Romo. The defense did its part to win. I thought Calvin Johnson might have even a bigger day. The 17 points off turnovers just was a killer. Rip Romo, but Garrett did not throw the passes. Felix got hurt during one of the interception returns and he wasn't on the field for the next series.

How anyone with half a brain in their head cannot give full credit for this loss to Romo AND Garrett is beyond me. When you're up 27-3 in the second half, I don't expect to run the ball on every play. I do, however, expect to be fairly conservative on the passing game and NOT to take risks. I've defended Romo and Garrett for the last time. They both quite simply LOST this game. It's embarrassing to lose a 24 point second half lead AT HOME. I don't know if this team has the mental capacity to overcome an epic meltdown like this. Garrett needs to hire a good offensive coordinator and Romo.....I just don't know. He's great and he's bad. I get so damn tired of hearing him say he's just got to get better. When in the hell is it going to happen? After he retires?

That's the crux of the situation. Even on the 2nd interception... we probably shouldn't be passing. I think it was on a 3rd and 2. The offense had done it's job. Now we just need the defense to hold up. Yet we're putting the team in a position to turn the ball over.

This is one of the toughest losses I've had to take as a Cowboys fan. And I'm sure the media will roast Romo, who I thought for the first half of the game was playing the best football I've seen. It's a real shame Garrett still had him passing the ball.

Imagine baseball, your pitcher throws a no hitter through 6 or 7 innings. Then he gives up a home run, the he gives up a grand slam... you would take him out of the game right?

Not saying take romo out of the game, but you definitely stop passing the ball as much. We really gifted the Lions this game, and I can't believe it.

I am sure Hoss will be on here to defend his messiah. But today he screwed up in not trying to run the ball more when it counted. He tried to use the same plays that Detroit were defencing differently in the second half and that is on him. Romo threw bad picks no doubt, but we should not have been throwing anything except safe passes up 24 points. Running the ball; using up the clock. Red Ball never seems to quite get that.

Can't really blame Wade anymore, Garretts team is just as stupid. Not gonna turn on him just yet we need smarter players starting with a smarter QB

Just so I'm clear, which play are you talking about, since if I pay attention to what all you guys are saying you would have apparently run the ball every time a pass didn't work out, and passed the ball every time a run didn't work out.

As pointed out, Wade was hammered for these types of losses.

Why does Red get a pass?
