***Rip Garrett Thread***

I wish rob ryan was our head coach

The guy who said our DBs could single cover Calvin Johnson and D that couldn't get good enough pressure with the lead on? Yeah, he is the answer alright.

D was culprit here too in this game. So far it was good, but they really acted like last year D, no pressure during key moments. Questionable coverage in 4th Quarter.

Calvin out-jumped two guys on one of those INTs.

I don't think 6 guys guarding him would have stopped that play.

If a squirrel farts in a forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it still stink? I'm not sure but our offense sure stunk in the second half today. At least key play calling and QB execution.

I'm sure Garrett is losing sleep over this. I believe every facet of this game from the offense, defense, ST, everyone thought they had this game....had it not been for Garrett's bonehead playcalling we would be talking about a 3-1 team and praising both Garrett and ROmo.....

Garrett won't learn from this, he was a QB, he loves to pass, he love for the Cowboys to pass a lot that is why Romo has broken records....but he still doesn't understand Romo's errant ways...

This is what separates "great coaches" from mediocre ones...

When Jimmy had Aikman and we were up did Jimmy use that great accuracy
that AIkman had? NO . Why? Because Jimmy's not stupid he knows that this is the NFL and anything can happen instead he used his workhorse Emmitt to pound the defenses into oblivion.

The Lions were already tired deflated, defeated and ROMO lifts them back up.

Jerry needs to think about hiring an OC for next year, I just can't take Garrett screwing up games anymore. WE got him as HC great. We got a good DC awesome...let's go out and get an OC one that doesn't SUCK like Garrett.

I love JG as an HC. I really do.

But his play calling is absolutely driving me nuts. It just doesn't make sense to me far to often.

I really don't care how anyone tries to defend it but to me 47 pass attempts is simply to many for a QB to be taking in any game, especially a game that your'e leading at one point 27-3.

I don't care if you go through a bunch of 3-5 and out drives cause you're running game isn't working as good as you'd like. With a lead like that you do you're best to really get that running game going and minimizing the chances of mistakes in the passing game. It's not just the INTs it's the game changing sacks or fumbles that can happen out of all those passing attempts.

After the first pick 6 the passing should have been pretty much put on ice and used only to keep the defense honest.

And I can't understand why when you've got 4th and goal, at the 1, why you (and I don't understand this no matter what team is doing it) run the damn ball up the middle when you know the entire defense is lining up specifically to stop there.

Dez has to be in there on that play (and really he hsould never come out of the game inside the 10 yard line) and you should be throwing him a jump ball.

I know in that case its different than my run the ball thing but I'm talking about that play on our second possession. It just doesn't make sense that our best WR (without miles out there right now) was on the sideline for 2 of the 3 plays ran at the 1 yard line.

Garrett is like the Princeton nerd that it trying to legitimize himself on the sidelines and in the process, tends to outsmart himself as well as his QB. I think being a head coach + calling plays is too overwhelming for him and at the minimum, he definitely needs to give up the playcalling.

Then what? Make his terrible brother playcaller? Were infested with Ginger and his loser family.

You know what I love about you? The picture of Garrett with devil's horns. It lets me know just how objective you are :)

Agree. His game plan was sound but he wasnt able to call the game once the flow of the game started and never adjusted to what changes the Detroit D made.

If we had kept running the ball, someone would have eventually broke one, and we could've afforded to play it conservative with a 27-3 lead. Running the ball wears a defense down, especially up front and that's where Detroit's strength is. As I've said many times before, often Emmitt had a poor first half running the ball, but we always stuck with it and we pummeled opposing defenses in the second half. I'm not saying we have the running game from the early/mid 90's, but we do have some capable backs and our running game was effective, though not great today. This game was ours and our offense got to cute for its own good.

That pic is vintage bro. Think I made it in the 2008 season.

QB with a broken rib and a week removed from having a punctured lung should never attempt that many passes. Especially when you are leading by 24 points.

You know what I love about you? The fact that you don't need a picture of Garrett with a heart around it to know how objective you are :)

Not all of it. Garret deserves alot of blame as offensive coordinator. You're up 24 points why are you calling so many pass plays?

Once again, he called 43.33% runs until we lost the lead and had to throw to catch up, and he probably would have called an even higher percentage than that had Romo not thrown a pick on 1st down.

On the possession we throw the INT to Carpenter we ran 5 of the 7 plays.

Aand, again, not exactly throwing risky downfield throws. You certainly can't destroy momentum by pulling everything back with most of the 2nd half to go.

And if we had struggled to run the ball and chosen not to rcontinue running and not throw the argument would have been that if the doctors and coaches and Romo all said he was okay to play then he should have been allowed to throw the ball.

The argument will just be twisted to whatever suits what the poster wants to say given the circumstances.

Besides, the bulk of those throws were very short throws - hardly a strain - and the reality is Romo did not take many hits at all in this game, so the ribs should not have been a factor.

Just because you can doesn't mean you always should. Jimmy Johnson had Aikman and Irvin but chose to use Smith to close out games when having a lead. Yes we don't have a player like Smith but we also don't have players like Aikman and Irvin. Even when the run game was working today, JG choose to pass on 3rd and 2. His play calling was as stupid as the passes Romo was chucking.
