***Rip on Romo Thread***

By the way, you'll get no argument from me that Garrett and Romo were both masterful in the first half. However, they both failed to grasp the situation and did not adjust the game plan accordingly. You don't play risky football (which we definitely did in the second half) when you have a 24 point lead at home. That's where they failed. As I've posted numerous times, I didn't want to run the ball three times and punt every second half possession. We should've passed when we "needed" to, but the pass plays should have been fairly conservative instead of risky. Again, Garrett AND Romo failed there. It's really that simple and I'll bet both of them would agree.

ask the clueless ginger that keeps shotgunning it and who has no clock management skills.

oh you mean the Ginger quarterback that's at the line of scrimmage yelling kill kill kill, opting out of the called play...that one!!!

Question, did they lose in almost the exact same way or not? A simple yes or no will suffice, you don't need to wrap it in all kinds of gooey praise for the Patriots distant past.
You know the answer, so why ask me? :)

I'm sure there could have been some other similar comparisons made. But the truth is, I don't care about the Patriots. The Patriots are going to do as the Patriots are going to do.

I made that post because I knew this was the game that would be associated with it. But I think it's more accurate to find another team, such as the Vikings to compare with. We're not comparable to the Patriots. FO wise, Team wise or QB wise.

The frustrating thing about ROmo is just when you get behind him and feel like he can turn it around and finally learn he does this. I want him to succeed and prove his critics wrong but he keeps doing this.

Good Romo in the first half and bad in the second. I don't want his bashers to be proven right about not being able to lead this team to the Super bowl, No Cowboy fans does, but he makes it hard for the fan base to defend and support him

Well said. I'm not one that wants Romo benched in favor of Kitna. However, Garrett has got to rein him in given certain circumstances. I'm just not sure he can or will do it. It has yet to happen. Maybe they will both finally learn something after today and actually apply what they learned instead of just paying lip service to it.

Not being nit picky here, but just wanted to let you know that Romo followed John Elway not Brett Favre.

Garrett and Romo are virtuosos at their profession. They just don't know when to tap the brakes and play for the W. Old school is what we needed. These guys were going for another TD. Punt the dang ball and make them earn it. Run the ball and eat the clock.

It's kind of sad, really. We are LOADED with talent.

I think Sparano in the booth calling plays could fix everything. I really do.

I so wish we were more of a running game. I wish our WR's could block guys out of thier cleats. I wish our OL could smash DL over and road grade anyone behind him.

I miss our OL of the 90's :laugh2:  Loved those guys.

Because I want an honest answer rather than a snide remark.

You want to be flippant and smug, I can be just as flippant and smug back because I know football History way better than anyone crying and screaming why us.

On Twitter, Jimmy Johnson just said that Romo still doesn't understand situational football.

Jimmy Johnson needs to quit whining and complaining. :p:

You shouldn't be nit picky because you are wrong. Romo admitted to having a Favre poster in his room. Favre was his idol growing up.

Romo and the pathetic play calling also lead directly to the 17 points that cost us the game.

17 points didn't cost the game, 34 did. And you do realize that the defense is responsible for that last 7 too right? Just because Romo throws an INT doesn't mean they have to give up the points. That's why it's a team game. That's why they're all responsible.

Pick 1 - not sure if he saw Carp or not but that pass at that time in the game was not necessary.

Pick 2 - I didn't have too much of an issue with. Defender fought Robinson for it and won IMO. However, the game situation didn't require a play where you have to squeeze one in. It was tight. Plus, you just gave them momentum with the Carp pick.

Pick 3 - completely unacceptable...no safety in the middle or not. That was pure, back foot throw, river boat gambling. It's almost like Tony or JG or both were looking or the homerun strike to get everything back to normal. A "hey look at us everything will be ok" play. It wasn't necessary.

So here we are again, watching the Tony lost the game press conference again.

I'm a big believer in not taking your foot off the gas even when you're up big. But there is a right way to do it too. This team is good, but not at game situation management, or least Tony isn't. Maybe he is but not consistent enough. So I'm left with this question stuck in my head. Up 27-3, with our run game being so-so through the first three weeks, why didn't we try to establish the run and try some things with the run game, give ourselves something to build on going into the bye? Worst case scenario we're punting, with one of the best in the league, and letting the D handle things. Keeping Detroit deep in their end, forcing them into long clock eating drives at worst. The D was doing just fine IMO.

We better find a run game or a bullpen closer or something quick for these 4th quarters. Tony can takes us to the edge of the river but someone else needs to get this team to drink.

Speaking of which I need a few.

True. And it would help if someone could've tackled the Bobbly or the other guy! Bobby dropped the ball and they STILL made a TD.

Yup. I think it was before his first start that they played a video of Romo impersonating his idol. It was definitely one of his first starts if not the first one.

No, but the momentum that swung in favor of the Lions was a direct result of Romo's two pick six TD's, and the last interception added more fuel to the fire. After that, the Lions came to life and become much harder to contend on defense.
