So what was your opinion on Cooper Rush as our primary backup before Week 1?

What was your opinion on rolling with Tyler Smith at LT before Week 1?

What was your opinion on Brett Maher as our kicker before Week 1?

Exactly... you were 0-3 on those guys just like the rest of us, but keep pretending you still know better than the FO.
First off, you're answering your own questions. Not speaking for me.

Most importantly, the front office is SUPPOSED to know more than the fans. The fact is 25 years of failure.

Wanna know my opinion on Pollard? In CeeDrop not being a 1?

Fans may hit 50/50 on their opinions. This doddering drunk fool has run a proud franchise into a laughingstock. No one fears the Cowboys come January.

I think it’s more of Jerry getting the fan base all hyped up for a major trade. He should just let the football people speak and run the show. He does too much damage every time he opens his mouth.
In the end they probably would have over paid for a player like Cooks who is a nice add but he doesn’t get you that far over the hump. If they wanted a 2nd no way do you do that.
There wasn’t a player available that would have had a major impact. Again, Jerry just shut up.

He actually said don't bet on a trade happening before he got off the phone. He just said they were entertaining some things

To be honest, anyone clamoring for Jerry to make a trade has obviously been in a coma for most of the Jerry trades over the last 20 years. He routinely comes out of them looking like Dan Snyder's new female admin assistant: traumatized and wishing they'd never taken the first phone call.

Jerry trading is akin to Jerry staring at Johnny Manziel in the first round. Sometimes better to give the old man another bourbon and send him to the men's room until the deadline passes.

So I am curious I hear folks yelling “go get a dominant run stuffing DT”. My question is who? What game changing run stuffing dominant DT was being shopped? I’m all for getting better, but you can’t trade for someone who is unavailable. I’m not being a smart ***. I really want to know if I just missed someone out there.

if that’s the case, the future doesn’t look promising. In this era of football, free agency and cap manipulation is just as important as drafting well. They can’t run this business like they did in the 90’s and succeed but that’s they’re doing anyway.

my advice is group prayer.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Cooper Rush. He’s been a fantastic backup.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Brett Maher. He’s been a fantastic kicker.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Noah Brown. He’s been rock solid filling in for Gallup/Washington.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Tyler Smith playing LT as a rookie. Remember how badly we wanted a vet replacement for Tyron Smith before Week 1? We got Jason Peters but he’s been nothing more than OG depth so far. Tyler has held his own.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Terence Steele at RT. This one maybe goes back a year.

The moral of the story: we’re 6-2 despite Dak missing 5 games and other adverse circumstances. That’s a HUGE credit to the front office and coaching staff......

So maybe they’re not “SO STUPID” for not acquiring more help today?

Maybe, just maybe, they know better than us fans do? And deserve some benefit of the doubt?

Crazy, I know.

Rush was the perfect storm and nothing more. He played right in to his weaknesses of a suspect arm.

The other things on your list are accurate. But that doesn't mean going all in at this juncture was wrong.

This place is called the CowboysZone. I have often thought it should be called Disappointmentville. Nothing this team does ever seems to elevate the temperament here. Even the offense biatch slapping the Bears ends up with arguments.

I swear I suspect if this team were to walk through the rest of the season, somehow win the East and get the bye as the first place team in the NFC. Then go through the play-offs like Sherman headed to the Gulf. And they meet the Bills and stifle Allen and their offense and drop 45 on the Bills for the Championship....

There would be a thread here within minutes claiming this was a fluke and let's see them do it again, or it was just dumb luck.

I think this was the exact time to put the pieces together and go for it. Just my feeling.

Draft be damned.
Cap be damned.

Patton led his 4th Mechanized, with full compliment of ground troops 100 miles in the dead of winter through the snow to fight to free Bastogne.

Just my opinion, Nav. But sometimes the best play is to push all in.

Most teams aren’t making public who they want to shop around. Many of the tanking teams are looking to see who they can deal to create a future with picks. We do however rarely see a disgruntled player who wants out and makes it public but otherwise it’s inside info among GMs and owners

Here’s how I see it……

Coming from someone who is going to error on the side of bashing Jerry whenever I can….

It’s extremely unfair to criticize not acquiring any player that wasn’t actually traded today.

Would you all have been happy if they dealt a first for Cooks and picked up like 18m in salary?

There wasn’t one single trade during the entire period that was the right move for Dallas at this time.

If they didn’t get a DT, it wouldn’t have moved the needle enough to have been worth it. The only DT actually moved around the deadline was the one we got.

Hopefully the backlash here will teach the two clowns not to count on mid round picks to play right away.

You’re right. Its insane to question a team that is always contending for championships year after year! Clearly this team is without one single weakness and to make a trade to improve a perfect roster would have been silly! I think 18-2 is basically a LOCK!!

The only way I’ll agree with this logic of the OP is this we all agree that adding $18 million of guaranteed money for Brandin cooks was strangulation disaster.

honestly, I would’ve been very happy getting Cedrick Wilson back.

And they will be wrong about thinking they can win a Super Bowl with Anthony Brown as a starter.

Rush was perfect

Just my opinion, Nav. But sometimes the best play is to push all in.

The Bucs, Packers and Rams demise has not only made going all in a choice….it has made it mandatory and that’s why we saw the Eagles and Vikings go all in with trades and acquisitions in Quinn and Hockenson

…..and BTW, I wouldn’t say Rush was perfect …..merely pretty damn good when needed.

Frankly assuming the trade talk was about Cooks as been reported. I'm glad it didn't happen. I would rather see what Washington added will do and if that doesn't work then look into OBJ's health.

I can see that happening we throw a lot of money and take a look at obj

Fans ripped the Cowboys for "botching" the Randy Gregory deal and every ensuing move thereafter at DE. They were DEAD WRONG on all.

Pretty sure that was the hangup to a Cooks deal, getting him to renegotiate before a trade. Just couldn't get it done.

they may know better than the fans do, but the last 25 years have proven that they don’t know better than the other general managers.

I don’t pretend to know better but let’s understand what just occurred. Almost every team that was either superior or as good as the Cowboys upgraded their rosters to win THIS year. The Cowboys are literally the only team that didn’t.

If we wer the Bills or Chiefs many of us could understand standing pat. Our defense is one of the worst against the run and our WR corp is man for man the weakest of the top 8 playoff bound teams and we lost a corner for the year

Hankerson is a nice addition but it’s not nearly enough to offset something like the Niners picking up McCafree. If the other teams didn’t improve their rosters I could see the Cowboys remain with their current roster, although they would still be inferior to the Bills, Chiefs and Eagles
Agree with this 100%.

This late in the season and coming off a knee injury I doubt it would be all that much money. 9 games left and counting.

He played for $1.25 million with the Rams last year.
