Ripping the front office for no trades is hilarious

I think it’s more of Jerry getting the fan base all hyped up for a major trade. He should just let the football people speak and run the show. He does too much damage every time he opens his mouth.
In the end they probably would have over paid for a player like Cooks who is a nice add but he doesn’t get you that far over the hump. If they wanted a 2nd no way do you do that.
There wasn’t a player available that would have had a major impact. Again, Jerry just shut up.
Jerry was born with a promoter spoon in his mouth. Some like to believe he is controlling everything. I don't he and Stephen make an adequate but not exceptional executive management team. The result, inconsistent team growth with moments of success but mostly patches of mediocrity over the past 2.5 decades.

More guidance for Jerry

I'm fine not trading, I'll keep the 2nd rounder.
If we keep Zeke and let Pollard walk we are daft.
Reduce Zeke money and make him the #2RB/FB/short yardage.

I think JJ heard the dial tone on phone calls and thought "We just got cut off" a time or too.

Yup. It's not about regular season wins or how everyone is performing after 8 games.

It's about what this team achieves as a whole. And if they make it, no matter how close, they have proven their worth. Since the NFL goes into tournament mode after two thirds of the season it may come down to those very clutch situations. Last year we were also at 6-2 at around this time of year. And we all know how that worked out. ;)

And this is no "glas is half empty" attitude all. Just an "let's not count the chickens before they hatch" approach.

I’m sorry but that’s pure stupidity. If our rb fumbled with 1 minute left then clearly that team had the talent and was built to go to the nfc champ game, and a blunder by our rb threw it all away. You’re entitled to that opinion but it’s still stupid

We were all DEAD WRONG about Cooper Rush. He’s been a fantastic backup.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Brett Maher. He’s been a fantastic kicker.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Noah Brown. He’s been rock solid filling in for Gallup/Washington.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Tyler Smith playing LT as a rookie. Remember how badly we wanted a vet replacement for Tyron Smith before Week 1? We got Jason Peters but he’s been nothing more than OG depth so far. Tyler has held his own.

We were all DEAD WRONG about Terence Steele at RT. This one maybe goes back a year.

The moral of the story: we’re 6-2 despite Dak missing 5 games and other adverse circumstances. That’s a HUGE credit to the front office and coaching staff......

So maybe they’re not “SO STUPID” for not acquiring more help today?

Maybe, just maybe, they know better than us fans do? And deserve some benefit of the doubt?

Crazy, I know.

First off not everyone was wrong about all of those things, but regardless that’s a silly statement and way to try and make a point because there were also many guys the team was dead wrong on including one we just waived. To act like any team is always right with their personnel decisions is far fetched and to do it with this team when it comes to free agency in particular is borderline lunacy. Second, the fact that some of our younger guys have come through and are playing well is the exact reason you do try and add talent. You don’t bother with short term adds if your team has no shot and this is a team with a couple of nice pieces added that could have a shot based on the way the NFC is shaping up. Can we right now? Maybe, but I still see a team that is pushed around in the trenches. I think when we get up on teams and force them to pass we can crush them in waves with our pass rush but our recent playoff losses all look the same, as did our games against TB and Philly. With the makeup of our team we need to win or at least hold our own in the running battle to beat good, we’ll rounded teams.

I for one would not have been happy if we gave up even a 3rd for Cooks as I just don’t think he is the player some do at this point and that’s even if Houston ate some of his salary. I wouldn’t take him for free if we had to pay next years salary. I’m happy with the Hankins move and would have loved to add some more pieces, but I’m just not sure we are good enough to get over the hump even with a couple of signings so I’m fine watching our guys run out there each week and see what they develop into. The money we don’t spend today we can roll into next year and possibly add someone then.

Letting Gregory and Collins walk now look like great moves too, given the price, our roster, and long-term outlook.
Steele is better than Collins and we lead the league in sacks

You and I are not privy to who’s available for draft picks. Players on the teams that are prepping for rebuild are what the FO could and should have been targeting. Teams don’t make this information publtc

Jerry said in his own words, “ we are going to sit back and let the offers come to us” ( paraphrasing). That’s real cut considering the real GMs in the league were out there being aggressive in making their teams better

at least one good thing has come out of this….you are happy with the receivers we have so I expect not to hear that excuse at anytime during the season or playoffs if Dak has bad games.
If CeeDee goes down we’d be in trouble at WR, but yeah I’m generally fine with our guys.

We didn’t lose to San Francisco because of the receivers, we lost because we got beaten up in the trenches on both sides of the ball. If we’re solid in the trenches during the playoffs, the sky’s the limit for this team.

If we weren’t aggressive in seeing what’s out there in the trade market, shame on us. I didn’t see that quote from Jerry but I also don’t believe anything Jerry says publicly. Did the Texans call us or did we call them? How about the Raiders with Hankins?

Then we have to agree to disagree.

Agreed.

Not to mention, we have Fehoko.

My only worry is if CeeDee goes down, then we'll have to be a little more creative. But with Dak back at 100% now I think the offense can get it done so long as the line and the TEs are healthy. We're loaded at RB.

I think that they will use Washington, Tolbert, and Brown as the 3rd receiver and sign OBJ if he is healthy.

Way too early for such a thread. If they go one and out in the play offs again, all that was worth less than a rat's fart.

If they win the SB or at least make it to the NFCCG, then and only then will I give credit to what the front office has or hasn't done this year. Everything else is just Jerry's agenda of doing just enough to "stay relevant".

We had good teams and good players in those last 26 years. They all wasted their career here.
We never led the league in sacks like we are doing this year.

I hear ya man and if that helps us with getting actual play off wins then I'll give credit to this front office.

But I wouldn't even care if we won all 17 reg season games with breaking every stat record in the process, if the first play off game results in a loss. That early promising last season was the final back breaker for me. I'll enjoy the wins but won't let them fool me anymore into thinking that this gives us any idea about how this team will perform in January.

These are all great points. I would only want the team to do a trade if it improves our chances at a championship without cap-hamstringing us long-term. Sometimes the right trade just isn't there.
