he pretty much threw jason under the bus.

Ryan doesn’t hesitate, however, to proclaim that his defense gave the Cowboys a chance to be a heck of a lot better than 8-8 before injuries ravaged his defense.

“When you play that way for the first 10 games, you’re supposed to be 9-1 and or 10-0,” Ryan said. “We were 5-5.”

And he's right. Our defense kept us in many games while our offense was stinking up the joint.

How many times could the defense not even get lined up right the past two years.

I was very underwhelmed the whole time he was here.
That's the offense the last 4 years.

It's unbelievable how so many people are upset over him getting fired. The did an ok Job. Even when Sean and Bruce carter played we didn't force turnovers at all. Everyone was running around like chickens without heads. I'm sure as hell not going to miss having 9-10 guys on the field

And we can't do better at HC?

That isn't the issue at hand.

I guess some fans are just looking for a reason to lash out at Garrett rather than judging the merits of the move that has been made.

It's much like the fans who are always complaining about Jerry. Let's fuss and fret over the thing that isn't going to happen instead of considering the thing that did happen.

So really everyone's anger is all about Garrett staying, not Ryan going.

So I guess it would have been better for Dallas to do nothing at all based on that logic. Instead, it fired a so-so defensive coordinator.

I support that move instead of just staying status quo. Garrett isn't going anywhere, so other changes have to be made if this team is going to compete. There are better defensive coordinators than Ryan out there who can help that side of the ball.

Once again, firing for the sake of firing is stupid. You try to sure up the biggest area of weakness first. Otherwise, you still have the same problem next year and not closer to fixing the problem.

If this was a broader move (or if it turns out to be) then I would be okay with it. Otherwise it is just trying to save face by Jerry by firing Ryan.

What pisses me off is the obvious thing to do first is remove garret. We don't need HC job trainings going on here. The failure of this team didn't have much to do with Ryan. Jones will always be a jack *** though, and fire the wrong people. This is ridiculous. I've said it before, and i'll say it again. Jones taking care of the Cowboys is like Lennie taking care of the rabbits.

i think this will be a broader move....I think we will have a new OC and obviously a new DC......also moving to a 4-3....IMO

And our defense also let us down at times when the offense stepped up. That was one of the most frustrating things about this season: We couldn't seem to get the offense and defense playing well at the same time.

Rob running his mouth. Shocking

Someone had to take the fall and half of Ryan's family isn't working for the team. We keep mediocrity.

When Carter and Lee played sure they didn't create turnovers but they kept the other team from scoring. Field goals and 3 and outs. It's amazing that so many people forgot how the defense was carrying the offense in the early portion of the season.

I don't think we can say it's a case of firing for the sake of firing. Ryan didn't take all the weapons he was given and produce one of the best defenses in the league. Garrett/Jones seem to believe he should have done better and believe they can find someone who will.

I have no problem with that. If Ryan's defense had been among the best in the league, then I would.

BTW, I also believe Garrett the offensive coordinator should be fired, and I believe that he will be. Both coordinators were only so-so and both should be replaced if there are better options out there.

Wow...I'm shocked. Seems like Jerry is making moves just for the sake of making moves.

I think Rob Ryan did the best he could with what he had but as long as Jerry hires a better replacement I'm all for it.

None of those would surprise me.

Nope.

Don't hate the guy.

But I can understand the firing.

And healthy and intact, the front 7 was good enough. Maybe the best ILB pair in the NFL now. Ware and an outstanding season by Spencer. Hatcher was terrific this year. Brent had a fine year until the accident. And Coleman is a very good run defender. It was good enough until injuries and other stuff hit.

Such superlatives thrown around so loosely.

Let's see. They aren't the best ILB pairing in the league. They certainly weren't this year. They barely played together. When Carter was emerging, Lee was on crutches. Ware was a shell of his former self this year. Hatcher and terrific should only be used together in this sentence - Jason Hatcher isn't terrific. Brent didn't have a fine year. He was decent and improving before the incident. Coleman is a marginal player at best. As is Spears. Lissemore is just okay. Ratliff wasn't on the field and looks to be in rapid physical decline. Crawford was a raw rookie.

Front seven not good enough. No team allows the QB production we did without serious issues along the front seven. That's where it all happens. This is why nothing changes despite adding cornerback after cornerback. Sign two more this spring. Nothing will change. I promise you.

Well like I said before, Our DC did so much more with what he had than our OC did with what he had.

Our defense gave us good chances against the Failcons, Gnats, Ravens, and Skins. Our offense turned the ball over and gave the game away. Later our defense suffered many injuries. The fail of this season is not on Ryan. I am pissed that ryan is let go, but we keep garret?

Forcing turnovers isn't on the DC.

If Charles Tillman was on the Cowboys, he'd probably have as many forced fumbles as with the bears.

Some players just have knack for it and sadly, we had very little pass rush to force the issue.

I'm not pissed he's gone.. healthly, this team can play good defense, get some pass rushers and boom, it could be top ten BUT Garrett should have lost his playcalling duties way before Ryan lost his job.

Here's my question for those more knowledgeable than myself. As we watch the NFL offense evolve with this so called new breed of QB are the defenses going to devolve back to a 4-3? My understanding is that the 3-4 gives you more speed which I would think better deals with a "running" QB and a pass happy league and that the 4-3 deals better with a traditional running offense, running with a RB that is. Does anyone actually think that we revert back to a 4-3 and if so do the dominoes start to fall like they did when everyone went to a 3-4? Also what does the draft look like this year for making the change? One last thing, will Ratliff have a probowl season playing in a full time 4-3? Thanks.
