Here's what I find really ironic and funny about the fascination with Jerry. If he is the end all, be all, do all GM people actually imagine that he is, then you have to admit the following.
Jerry got the Tyron Smith, Bruce Carter, DeMarco Murray, Dwayne Harris, Tyrone, Crawford, Travis Frederick, Gavin Escobar, Terrence Williams, JJ Wilcox, Zach Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Anthony Hitchens draft picks right in the last 4 years, and arguments can be made for a couple of the other picks he made being valuable to the team as well. And certainly he had something to do with Dez Bryant and Sean Lee prior to these 4 years since he has been the GM for 26 years now. You also have to give him credit for finding Ronald Leary, Dan Bailey, Cole Beasley, Davon Coleman, Chris Jones, and Dustin Vaughan and a few others among the UDFA solid finds. I mean was anyone more excited than Jerry about Leary? I don't think so. While you're at it, give him credit for bilking the best GM in the NFL out of Rolando McClain and being able to sign Free Agents like Henry Melton, George Selvie, Jeremy Mincey, among others and successfully replace high contract hit guys like Jason Hatcher and DeMercus Ware and getting improved results. Certainly you have to give him credit for assembling a Coaching staff who seem to have all 63 guys (including the PS) united and focused on "the basics." Yeah, I think if you consider Jerry all that you need to recognize that he is, BY YOUR OWN DEFINITION OF WHAT A GM IS, directly, responsible for every living. breathing, eating, drinking, sleeping, and pooping soul on the staff, roster, and offices.
But I don't have to. Why not? Because I do not now, nor have I ever recognized Jerry as that GM. Nope. Not once. Zero times. Zip. Nunca amigos. That means "never friends" for those of you who are mono linguistic.
Yeah, I find that real funny for a guy who supposedly defends Jerry at every turn no matter what he does and "rubber stamps" it. I'm talking bust a gut, pee your pants, can't breathe funny. I love irony.
