Evaluators from four NFL teams indicate Ole Miss DT Robert Nkemdiche is in danger of a "significant draft-day slide."
As a whole, evaluators were concerned that the former No. 1 overall recruit's talent doesn't "consistently show up on tape" (he posted just 6.5 sacks across his college career despite dominant talent) and "all shared a common concern" about his integrity. For his part, the prospect admitted to being occasionally was "lazy" on plays. Nkemdiche ran a 4.87 forty-yard dash at the NFL Combine and added a 35-inch vertical, a 9-foot-8 broad jump and 28 reps on the bench. "That's a guy that I could see having a little bit of a plummet," one evaluator said. "He's not in a weak class [at defensive tackle], and there is a lot of [off-field] stuff there to get through. … He may not end up being a first-round pick." Feb 29 - 10:28 PM

Ya I agree. it's like Clowney. Of course, Clowney is a more extreme example but rare talent
with no desire? It was so obvious as you watched and read Clowney before the draft [doesn't care].

I dont think its their fault its just their character. Some have the drive and some don't,it's just who they are.

He's gonna be a Cowboy. Same goes for Demarcus Robinson out of Florida if he has a significant fall as well. They will not shy away from troubled players.

Fell like the next sheep off the cliff.

Not just because of his performance, or his off field/interviews ect. The DL class is off the charts and he looked pedestrian, maybe a 3rd rounder.

But, I'd still take him with a compensatory 6th.

Quite frankly I had him rated a lot lower than the draftniks months ago, well before he fell (literally and figuratively). He's a "flash" guy. You could see a few flashes a game and then he's a houdini the rest. I also didn't like the lack of power I saw him play with and the frequency at which he played that way. I definitely don't think that the film is good enough to risk a high pick on him with all of the character concerns he has around him, the self admitted laziness and the lack of production. He would probably be worth a flier in the 4th or 4th comp, but I probably wouldn't touch him before that.

I'll take him in the 2nd all day.

He's a beast.

Im sick of RKG who can't play. This guy can play. We need disruption on the DL badly and this guy will bring it.

Unfortunately he won't make it out of the first round regardless of what this article tries to push on readers.

Regardless of his off the field issues I don't want anyone who couldn't out perform college level talent. Every OL you face in the pro's are better than the best OL you will face in college. If you can't beat average college Offensive linemen then you can't beat pro linemen.

People only care about him because he was highly recruited out of high school.

He can play when he WANTS to. Problem is he doesn't WANT to play hard often enough. I can't believe some of you guys....you are as bad or worse than Jerry. Never FRIGGIN' learn.

no thanks on this guy when this defense line class is the deepest in I don't know how long.

Interesting.....

I was listening to a podcast shortly before the senior bowl and the host had mentioned that in talking to a scout that it wouldn't surprise him if he pulled a La'el if he and his agent felt that he'd slip significantly during the draft (i.e. requesting teams not to draft him so he can pick and choose his final landing spot).

I thought it was a little ridiculous at the time, but seeing how poorly he interviewed this past week, I'm not sure if I still feel the same.

If he does fall into the third (and beyond), it kinda makes sense. At that point, I don't think there's a huge difference in money, but he would be able to hit free agency a lot faster.

I still think the scout was talking out of his butt, but stranger things have happened. This could potentially get interesting come draft wknd.
