Just watched this last night and was left with a couple of "wonderings". OK, more than a couple.

First off all, I wonder why the HOF is situated in Cleveland, don't they know their football team sucks? I hardly think of Cleveland as the birthplace of R&R. I would take Memphis or Philly over Cleveland.

Next, I was wondering how they go about the nomination and final selection process because The Moody Blues waiting this long is nuts. They were one of the first bands in the British Invasion and their body of work and longevity is only rivaled by The Stones. They should have been inducted years ago.

Then, I wondered why Mark Knopfler didn't attend and nothing was mentioned about it and they didn't perform. That was a disappointment. His pickin' is among my favorite of all time. He personifies the description of "lyrical guitar player" as McCartney does the bass.

The Cars and Moodies weren't very good as time has taken it's toll on the vocal chords and members of the bands and Rick Ocasek lost his longtime balance for vocals, the overlooked and underrated Benjamin Orr for many years unless you are a devotee as I am. But they can all still play. But I was also wondering about why the two drum kits?

I am not a big Bon Jovi fan and his induction speech was too long and I am not a Howard Stern fan but his induction introduction was the highlight of the show, nailed it. Interesting to see Bon Jovi's buddy, Robert Kraft, at his table. There was lots and lots of eye candy and he doesn't even qualify as a wadded up wrapper. However, they can still knock it out of the park and Bon Jovi is a great front man and can still hit those notes but he does struggle a little more...don't we all?

Would someone in charge please capitalize that r in the headline. I was always on the rock side and less on the roll but it's wrong. Might as well cap the of as I thought I had capped the entire headline. I should proof read before hitting post but I am doing good just to read it the first time as I type it. Syncing mind and fingers takes work.

Was curious myself so I had to go look up what the process was......
http://www.futurerocklegends.com/Nominating_Process.php

The bigger question I have is what business do Green Day, Joan Jett and Bon Jovi{among others}have in the RRHOF? It took Deep Purple and Rush FOREVER to get while lesser acts got in much sooner. The place is a joke.
Agree, there doesn't seem to be a system in place and it should be in reverse chronological order from the creation of the term R&R with eligibility standards.

Everyone has their preference, and I like a fairly broad range of music, but I was glad The Cars made it in recently.
Unique and talented band...imo. Ahead of their time in a lot of ways.
Benjamin Orr (RIP) was way underrated..and by far their best vocalist.
They should've let him sing more than he did.
Ocasek always said that he would sing the good songs and Orr would sing the great ones.
Candy O, Drive, Just what I needed, Moving in Stereo........

Just passing through and catching up on my Coach "likes". He has a great point about Cleveland and the Hall of Fame. I've wondered the same. Is it just to get people to come to that place that love football? I think the HOF should be more centrally located for all fans. :starspin:

there was a radio program there that is considered the first to play rock and roll.
there was also a famous show that the station put on that had everyone who was anyone in r n r at the time....its believed Elvis appeared on it but no film to my knowledge has surfaced.
There was also a film made of that show that launched Bill Haley and The Comets.
I cant remember the DJ's name...I think it was Allen Reed.

The Cars, on that old show called The Midnight Special--1978
Sound quality of the old vids stinks but this very early sound was cool anyway

Alan Freed did coin the term on his show in Cleveland but that is little reason to establish it there.
Elvis' first appearance on radio was at KWKH in Shreveport on the Louisiana Hayride, which really gets the credit for the super rise of his popularity and increased exposure.
The influence and creation of R7R was from black musicians and Cleveland is in no way associated with that movement. Memphis is where the HOF should be and Sun Studios should be rebuilt inside of the HOF. Sam Phillips is the father of R&R and the HOF should be in his hometown.

No Iron Maiden, no RnR Hall of fame.
No Motorhead, no RnR Hall of fame.
Really? How can these bands not be in before Metallica? Maiden's sold 100 million records and Motorhead established the thrash/speed metal subgenre......and Run DMC is in?

RnR HoF is a sham and a joke.
