Just watched this last night and was left with a couple of "wonderings". OK, more than a couple.
First off all, I wonder why the HOF is situated in Cleveland, don't they know their football team sucks? I hardly think of Cleveland as the birthplace of R&R. I would take Memphis or Philly over Cleveland.
Next, I was wondering how they go about the nomination and final selection process because The Moody Blues waiting this long is nuts. They were one of the first bands in the British Invasion and their body of work and longevity is only rivaled by The Stones. They should have been inducted years ago.
Then, I wondered why Mark Knopfler didn't attend and nothing was mentioned about it and they didn't perform. That was a disappointment. His pickin' is among my favorite of all time. He personifies the description of "lyrical guitar player" as McCartney does the bass.
The Cars and Moodies weren't very good as time has taken it's toll on the vocal chords and members of the bands and Rick Ocasek lost his longtime balance for vocals, the overlooked and underrated Benjamin Orr for many years unless you are a devotee as I am. But they can all still play. But I was also wondering about why the two drum kits?
I am not a big Bon Jovi fan and his induction speech was too long and I am not a Howard Stern fan but his induction introduction was the highlight of the show, nailed it. Interesting to see Bon Jovi's buddy, Robert Kraft, at his table. There was lots and lots of eye candy and he doesn't even qualify as a wadded up wrapper. However, they can still knock it out of the park and Bon Jovi is a great front man and can still hit those notes but he does struggle a little more...don't we all?
Would someone in charge please capitalize that r in the headline. I was always on the rock side and less on the roll but it's wrong. Might as well cap the of as I thought I had capped the entire headline. I should proof read before hitting post but I am doing good just to read it the first time as I type it. Syncing mind and fingers takes work.
