Rod Smith

He was just ok IMO. A little wild and reckless. I wish he had more speed.

He earned the backup RB spot at the end of the season and stay in that role IMO. We will add a RB in the draft (4th round IMO) and could add a specialty back for 3rd down plays but I think Rod Smith is definitely RB2 going forward.

we need 3 RBs this season and start running it down throats. even if you dont want to over run Zeke, find which runner is having the great game and let work around them. Let Rod beat them up, Zeke to lead and a in between to keep the defense honest. If Dallas would stick with this and an O line that imposes its will, we are winning games easier than haing the coaches put it on their brain trust.

I been on the Rod Smith train ever since they picked him up from Seattle.
He was going to be, or looked to be the top RB at Ohio State, then got into a little trouble. It also Zeke came along at that time and took over anyway.

They should have used him more the year before Zeke was drafted, but in hindsight I guess they did the right thing and brought him along slower as not to ruin him if he didn’t play as well as expected.

But he definitely deserves the #2 spot. As he works well in space to be a receiver coming out of the backfield.

Draft or sign or both a mid level or mod to late round RB to develop.
Let Morris test FA, but if he comes back, I may be fine with that as long as they do not impeded Rod’s progress. But need that shifty speed type RB, that also can return kicks and punts.

Like the giants did for years.

Smith will be the reason Morris won't be a Cowboy this fall. Probably replaced by one of those 4th round picks the Cowboys have.

He was serviceable in Zeke's absence, not good enough to garner loyalty. I wouldn't hate if he was the back up but it is very likely a better RB is available 4th round and even later in the draft. There is literally nothing special about him. Dime a dozen RB.

Been a fan of his since training camp last year. Brings good size and utility to the position.

also he seems to like to pound hard for the short yardage, i thought a few guys he beat on to get that tough yard. i dont take that away from him, im just mad Garrett doesnt use him more to beat up defenses.

can you jog my memory on the recklessness? i don't recall anything

Just a sloppy, slow style he has. Nothing in particular. He just looks like a RB that hasn't carried the ball that often with little patience.

I like Smith just fine for one of the backup roles, but he does sort of run like the game hasn't slowed down for him yet.

Gotcha. I don’t think he’s very dynamic but never came to that conclusion
