"I couldn't care less" is indeed hyperbole. That's the very reason people say it. They're using hyperbole to make a point.

I could care less about this statement.
How much less?
I could care a lot sure. That's why context is important. Do you know what context is?
I couldn't care less is nonsensical. I'm fine if people use it. But when said people then try to correct others...i'm always happy to teach a lesson.
You can choose to learn from it or not. Either way I could care less, but not by much.
This is just wrong. There are many things that I care about...but don't care about all that much.
If I say I could care less about something...that could mean I care a ton about the subject...it could also mean that I care little about the subject.
Its the equivalent of saying your score is less than 1000. That score could be 10. It could be 999.
Please learn English.
Words have meaning.
Which is correct: I could care less or I couldn't care less?
The expression I could not care less originally meant 'it would be impossible for me to care less than I do because I do not care at all'. It was originally a British saying and came to the US in the 1950s. It is senseless to transform it into the now-common I could care less. If you could care less, that means you care at least a little. The original is quite sarcastic and the other form is clearly nonsense.
I've taught basic English, thank you.
Now, let me deconstruct your point.
The term "I couldn't care less" implies one doesn't care about a particular thing. In keeping with not caring, one doesn't expend any more energy on that thing.
The term "I could care less" implies one cares about a thing and has room to care a little less about it. But if one expends energy on that thing, then one cares MORE about it, not less.
Thus, the term negates itself in the context of a discussion. One does not speak on and on about a subject and use the term, "I could care less" because if one speaks on and on about a topic, that suggests one cares MORE. If one didn't care more, one would use the term "I couldn't care less."
Oh, and your example using numbers to compare with expressions is faulty and incongruous. Do I need to explain why?
I need to learn English? Bahahahahahahaha!!!!
If I couldn't care less I wouldn't have read this post....but since I did i've proved I could care less....but not by much.
Good day.
Did you guys know that Rodgers might not play when Dallas faces Green Bay? Or couldn't you care less?
Oh, and from dictionary.com
Practice but not game...Yea he's been cleared to return to practice. I'm wouldn't be surprised to see him play against us
Practice but not game...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers plan to play quarterback Aaron Rodgers whenever he is cleared, but that has not happened yet.
Coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday that team doctors have not given Rodgers the OK to return for game action, but they have not ruled him out yet for Sunday's game against theAtlanta Falcons, which is five weeks after Rodgers broke his collarbone against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 4.
