@birddog26 posted on twitter he doesn't want to talk contract until he sees what's going to happen with the coaching staff. He likes them very much. Sorry couldn't copy the link

lots of players don't like to talk contract during the season. it's important to get rod back but i don't think callahan will be back. i don't think Ro is going anywhere. he is in the pefect situation for him

Well maybe that means a coaching discount?

He think he feels he owes something to Jerry and Jason, hopefully that is worth a few $'s.

I like this guy a lot. Only scary thing about this is that it makes resigning Rod a must. People have already been saying that Rod's a lock to go back to his old friend Lovie. I wouldn't say I agree, but that definitely can't happen. If Rod goes back to Lovie, we'll see Rolando in a Bucs jersey next year.

Who said he's going to Tampa? They just hired Leslie Frazier to be DC, so Marinelli would be the DL coach?

I don't believe that. And I don't believe he's going to go to a complete project that is Tampa's defense right as his own creation is starting to take flight.

Someone posted an article last week. It was in a radio show. Not sure if it was Broaddus or someone else.

Plus they are under new ownership there right, did they hire Lovie?

From what I have read, Rolando looked to Nick Saban for advice on who he should play for, and Saban gave Garrett his seal of approval. So I'm pretty sure Rolando is waiting to see if Garrett get's extended.

thats a great point. but i think that is easy to do. rod may not be so easy to do but we shall see. jerry is a mighty good saleman

I agree. I don't see Jerry/Jason letting Rod leave. The turnover at d-coordinator has been quite frequent the last 5 years.

The turnover wouldn't be so bad if we didn't hire that fossil monte kiffin. Rob Ryan is showing he's a one trick pony. Rod has this D believing. Even if they're not playing the best or have the best talent, they believe and that means alot.

I really wasn't a fan of Rob. His defenses were never good and he got a little lucky last year. Rod does have these guys believing and they love playing for him.

I don't know, he left Chicago where Trestman and Emery wanted him to stay on as DC to come coach DL with us. He did so in loyalty to Lovie, plus his connection with Kiffin. I could see him going to help Lovie. Let's hope it doesn't happen, though.

I'm happy he's in Dallas right now, helping the cause, but I don't want to see Dallas get desperate to keep him. He's not that freakin' good. He's been a little slow, and nobody is calling him on it because we're too euphoric over a 6 -1 start. His health has been a little concerning too. These issues don't even get into his past issues before joining the team, which I'm not assuming will remain in the past forever and ever. I know negative comments usually aren't allowed when a teams winning, but enthusiasm can be tempered with some reality, especially when we're staring a big Dez contract in the face, as well as a potentially big overall turnover on defense.

Clearly this is yet another reference to Linehan. :)

That's a pretty strong vote of confidence in the staff here, for whatever that's worth. We should be proud of the culture we're developing. And, yes, Broaddus was the one who had the opinion that Marinelli and Callahan would probably leave after the season. I think Callahan is likely to go. Marinelli, I'm not so sure. Especially to Tampa where Lovie might not even survive an awful rookie debut and not to a defense that's not good and where his other good friend is already ensconced. He likes it here. Jerry will pay him well. I think there's a high probability he stays.

He did that, though, because he felt the organization had disrespected his good friend, and he had a very good option available. If he really wanted to coach with Lovie again, he could just as easily have sat out a season like Lovie did, and been there on the shelf, ready to go, when the next opportunity came by. Clearly, that wasn't his only motivation.
