Just curious what you guys think about McClains 1 yr 700,000 deal if he goes on and has the type of season hes fully capable of....since he would be an unrestricted Free Agent would we:

1) Let him possibly walk with Lee coming back
2) Try to resign him before Free Agency
3) Use the Franchise Tag which I have no idea what that would cost

Opinions please....I was thinking we may have actually found our MLB for the next 7 or 8 years
but very concerned with the 1 yr deal he is playing on currently !!!

I'd probably go with option 2, but there is a lot of time between now and then.

Hopefully he understands that his track record will make it hard on a team who wants to lock him up long term, and not be looking to break the bank.

Honestly I would do 2-3. If he makes that big of an impact and we make the playoffs and win a game or two. He's the reason our defense has changed.

See if he stays a model citizen the rest of the year and then try to sign him.

Just a couple of years ago he was tied up in some very violent legal issues. Maybe keep him away from Montgomery

Linebacker: $11.455 million (linebacker franchise tag for 2014)

If he resigns with Dallas, it will be for considerably less...my guess, 3 years, and then the big contract consideration.

Good thing Jerry Jones made an off-season phone call to McClain, motivating the middle linebacker to come out of retirement.
“I’m thrilled he did give me a call,” McClain said Sunday. “There weren’t many teams that I would have left the couch for, and this is one of them, and I’m glad that he did.”

Hopefully he feels the same once they sit down to talk contract.

mcclain is where he needs to be to get his career back on track and i think he realizes that. i think we sign him and move lee outside. that would fit lee well because he is so good in coverage and may take some wear off of him. i think we can get mcclain on a team friemdly deal with protection in case he decides to retire again. to me this is a no brainer for him. this is the place he can get his career back on track but sometimes guys see those dollarsand nott he big picture. in most cases i can't blame a guy for chasing the money but this case is different. and i think he knows he is in a good spot for him

Love this guy but damn, does he really want to play?

I mean in his interview he was talking about how he needed the time away to prioritize and straigten up his life. I feel like he likes this team and the team likes him. What a great steal for...a 4th round pick?

If he plays 50% of the snaps this year, we give Baltimore our 6th and receive their 7th. So we basically got him for moving a few spots down, in all likelihood.

Is that as high as the pick goes? As I see it now hes gonna be playing more than that.

Sorry , McClain is doing well right now but if Sean could stay healthy I would his intelligence and "want to" over mcclain's athleticism

If McClain deeps his head on straight, I think Jerry/JG can find a spot on the field for both of them!

The team should pay him year-to-year, 2 years at the max, with minimal amounts guaranteed.

McClain is only 25, so a two year deal would still enable him to get the big payday at the end of the two years with good, consistent play. I have a feeling that's how it will go, given that he completes this year with at least solid play.
