I don't think it's necessary to turn the page on him, but I certainly wouldn't offer him much of a contract. He's proved himself to still be a risk with this news, so Dallas needs to proceed cautiously.

If it can get Bruce Carter and/or Justin Durant to return instead, I'd be all right with that although McClain is the best of the three overall.

To be honest, I'm not sure if he's the best of the three. Early in the season he was, and he certainly brings a certain physicality to the table that Lee, Carter and Durant do not, but I don't think he was missed that much against Detroit and Green Bay.

I guess his new contract just took a huge hit.

Welcome back Sean Lee.

It's not a coincidence that the guys who always seem to find injury, are the ones most likely to be caught using PEDs and pot. 60-70% of all the players in the league have used PEDs, and when they get hurt, they'd rather smoke pot than take pain killers to feel better. Honestly, it's a smarter choice when it comes down to the science and health part of things.

This guy is a mess.......boy oh boy. I actually was happy when we got him cause it was for nothing but I have to admit, he played great early on and was an imposing force in the middle of the defense but he died out at the end of the season with a bunch of little injuries that always seemed to not allow him to PRACTICE but allowed him to play on game day. Add to it that 90% of me thinks he set his home on fire, the late concussions that piled up on this guy the last couple of weeks and now this and there is no way you could sign this guy to anything more than a 2 year heavily incentive deal.

loved ro on the field most of the time last year... but never trusted him to be anything but a stopgap.

Towards the end of the season McClain was pretty unreliable.

The knee injury kept bothering him but he kept trying to play. Now the question is what allowed him to keep playing? Was it heart or was it drugs?

My stance would be the minimum or better luck somewhere else.

That is the term, unreliable. Now he is basically one strike from suspension.

I would not sign him to anything other than a bare bones deal I could walk away from at any time, because that is probably what it will come down to.

I ripped the Cowboys for trading for him. It turns out they were right, clearly. But I think it's time we turn the page on this headcase and just be thankful we got the production out of him that we did.

I don't know. These are the sorts of things that let you get premium talent at a discount. So far he's done nothing but help the team, all his issues notwithstanding.

There's no doubt that McClain is force on the field but if the Cowboys have to babysit him too then they should just move on.

Hitchens had a solid year and IMO he did fine at the Mike when Ro was sucking wind on the sideline and when he was hurt and couldn't play anymore.

I'm with you on that.

at first..I thought he was a dynamic player but he sort of faded to obscurity as time went on.

Now this.

You would think after being out of the sport and lack of contracts..

he would make himself squeaky clean and comply with whatever was required.

Obviously not.

I like Ro...I saw him on the sidelines last year firing up the D. It was on "Inside the NFL"...He was fired up doing a Dez and that's what we need. The guy can play and played hurt last year. I want him back and I don't care if he got on drugs AND burned his house down...I want a ring ******......

At best I would give Ro a cheaper version of a Melton deal. Very little guaranteed money. He's unreliable at best
