Our LB corps next year could be among the best

Lee (WLB)
McClain (MLB)
Carter (SLB)

Maybe putting Lee at WLB will help with the injuries as well.

What kinda contract do you give for a NRKG

I would say that he is a RKG. Seems to love the game, plays hard, mean, and fast. Exactly what you want from a MLB.

This is what Dez and Garrett said about him:

"Man, he brought that passion, that excitement," receiver Dez Bryant said. "He wants to execute. He wants to dominate. That's exactly what we need. As long as he keeps bringing that, them guys are going to fall in behind him. You're going to continue to keep seeing that kind of performance from that defense."

Added Garrett: "He plays with a demeanor and spirit that you want. It's great to have that from a middle linebacker because he gets contagious really quickly."

Frankly, I could not be happier. I have been posting for a few years that we need a guy with a mean demeanor on defense. Ro is just that.

Define your he's all over the place...how many tackles last game and how many tackles this game? Now, passes defende and interceptions? The man was robbed by a bad referee call for a touchdown.

"He is all over the place" = he is active. Engaged. Making plays. I don't keep up woth the actual "stats". I domt put much weight on "stats".

I agree with everything but while he may love the game he DOESN'T love to practice and has some mental issues. All I am trying to say is that you gotta be careful in the contact you give him. He has quit twice on two different teams already and you have to cover yourself in a contract making it impossible for that to happen again.....financially. I don't mind giving this guy $7mill a year but his contract has gotta be all or nothing just as the player he seems to be.

I hate to say it but I think he is a better fit in the middle than Lee, whose a heck of a player but maybe better suited for the weak side. Hope he comes back and they retain both he and Carter because combined with Lee that is a potentially dominating corps.

If Sean Lee ever gets healthy (and pigs fly) a Carter-McClain-Lee LB corps would be unstoppable.

A comment without substantiation, has two possibilities...one-being correct, or two-not being correct as stated.

9 tackles last week and 9 tackles this week. This week he had a sack, and an interception as well. He should have had a TD today, but the refs made a poor call.

lol, it's still early, but it's also getting a lot more interesting around the linebackers.

He was quoted after the game "There were only a few teams that I would have gotten off the couch for and this was one of them."

Now you can Go Cowboys! that and everything but that's a disturbing quote to me from a young player. A beaten up veteran, okay, but not a guy who hasn't even hit his athletic prime yet.

I agree. I made a comment on that very quote in the other McClain thread.

I don't like hearing that from a 25 year old. He admits he would have been perfectly content to sit on the couch this year during the prime of his career. Makes me question the supposed "love for the game" and "film room junkie" he was getting pre-draft.

The guy has played two games as a Cowboy without tapping out, and we're talking contract extension in this thread? Seriously?

Yes, he has played very well thus far, and has been the best player on defense by a mile. Let's wait until he faces some adversity and makes it through the season before anything resembling a future contract is discussed. If the Cowboys have learned anything from the bad contracts signed by Austin and Ratliff, they should keep their powder dry.

He makes a living as a human battering ram. There are pretty good reasons why you wouldn't want to play linebacker in the NFL unless the situation is just right.

I don't know, but I kind of like a Rowdy Rodney Piper in the ring with me...

Right as rain, Joey. It doesn't alleviate any fears that this guy is okay mentally with that kind of statement.
