It seems clear the defense could use some upgrades and we have fairly obvious needs at LB and DE.

Rolando is only 4 games away from being eligible.

Obviously he's unreliable, but it seemed like there were quite a few folks in the organization who were behind him.

I do remember there not being a locker for him at the Star so perhaps its all moot, but I wouldn't mind kicking the tires and seeing if he can be fresh legs at a weakspot in the defense. The biggest risk in my mind is the locker room/message you send.

Has there been any word on what the Cowboys are planning to do with him?

It sucks. Really. This dude has the physical talent to be one of the best all time. I really belive that. But! He is his own enemy. Or maybe he just really isn't into football. It might just be a pay check. It's a shame. All that natural talent. With that said... I hope he comes back in shape and destroys RBs and TEs.

If Rolondo was this reliable guy who always did the right things, he'd never have been here. He'd still be in Oakland. We knew what we were signing up when we brought him aboard. The dude is immensely talented, but he has a lot of issues not related to football. If you can keep him on that cheap contract and he's not some huge locker room disturbance, keep him around.

You sum up reasons why he's a hopeless case and conclude with that? The man is a junkie looking for drug money. He's on a drug suspension and he's spending his time doing drugs. That's it. That's all. You want to look at 2017... pay the guy half million a year and lose a roster spot for him?

I wish I could convince myself so readily of these kinds of things. Must be nice.... a dreamy little ride floating down the River DeNile...

Guy just doesn't love football. I was really pulling for him because he had the potential to be dominant. But that ship has sailed and it's time to move on.

The fact that he doesn't even have a locker assigned to him is a telling sign that the team is fully prepared to move on without his services. Not only that but failing to attend any of the training activities in the offseason doesn't speak well for his willingness to contribute. Consideration of two prior drug suspensions and his showing no inclination whatsoever of "turning over a new leaf" makes any possibility of his return fairly unthinkable.

Sadly this ship has sailed. Got torpedoed and hit a iceberg. Hope Ro gets his personal life in order. Gregory still has a chance. He was drafted in the 2nd by a owner who loves their own. So he will get every opportunity to clean up.

I was wondering why he was still on the team , appreciate the article.

I am confident that the Cowboys have moved on, once again, from troubled players. Jerry's charisma might get them to sign on, but it won't prevent them from not caring about their team and teammates.

I would say Ro is done.......no locker, zero news on him and not even a comment from him I'm aware of since his latest suspension. I believe he hasn't been cut because of financial reasons. Shame, had high hopes for the guy and if he had his head on straight, he could've been something in the NFL

My sense is Rolando McClain is 300 lbs with multiple voices in his head on boat somewhere in Louisiana.
