It seems clear the defense could use some upgrades and we have fairly obvious needs at LB and DE.

Rolando is only 4 games away from being eligible.

Obviously he's unreliable, but it seemed like there were quite a few folks in the organization who were behind him.

I do remember there not being a locker for him at the Star so perhaps its all moot, but I wouldn't mind kicking the tires and seeing if he can be fresh legs at a weakspot in the defense. The biggest risk in my mind is the locker room/message you send.

Has there been any word on what the Cowboys are planning to do with him?
he needs to be jettisoned like toxic waste

Think when his suspension is over he will immediately be cut

Jerry will give him a job as a scout or something. He likes playing billionaire social worker.

I'll just assume that some readers don't have the facts. Here you go:

http://thelandryhat.com/2016/10/24/rolando-mcclain-played-last-game-dallas-cowboys/

So if Ro has indeed played his last down, which I do believe he has. But I will also never rule it out 100% until he is eligible and is released. Regardless of what any article says.
But anyway, with no Ro, Hitchins not what they they hoped for. Though they will never admit that. And if the nerve doesn't fire by the 2017 draft. Are we looking at drafting a MLB.

Pass. Don't waste your time with players who are headaches and who don't love the game.

McClain is not a hard worker so my guess is that he's probably at least 25 lbs overweight right about now. He's a malingerer who routinely comes up with excuses/issues that require him to miss practices and offseason workouts.

Do you really want a guy like that around infecting the locker room?

Can you imagine where this team would be if this FO had spent the resources spent on Ro, Hardy and Gregory on defensive players who could contribute instead of wasting them on long shots?
or if they just lived up to their contracts......imagine that

That is all on hindsight.
Ro was productive and a great pick up but he just didn't work out for this year. But his presence was felt for the games he played the last 2 years.
Gregory, was a gamble, and looked to have been a good pick once he overcame his injury, but "in hindsight" he faild, and failed, to a 14 game suspension. But they will stick with him. But to me, I am not counting on him. Prove to us he can stay clean over the next off season.
Hardy was a good signing at the time, but he did not work out, and who were they going to get otherwise.

I can't blame the FO for ro or Hardy. But for Gregory , they could have looked elesewhere, butt hey gambled, and it yet is to be determined if a wasted pick. Look at Von Miller and his situation from Denver when he first came out.

If you want to be that critical, look at the 2016 gamble on Jaylon Smith also. That is a longer shot, for we got actual play from these other 3.

Agree. Everyone wants to emulate the success of the Patriots, and this is one of the key points to Patriot player evaluation. The most important question they want answered is this - is football the most important thing to this player. Whether through draft picks or free agent acquisitions, the goal is to get guys who care about football more than anything. It's not always possible (Martellus Bennett?) but in general that's the goal.

Time flies. I can't believe 6 weeks have passed. Only 4 more weeks and Rolando is eligible to come back. I doubt he is coming back. But, who knows? Maybe he is working out and will be ready.

It would have been nice to see Lee, Rolando McClain, and Jaylon Smith as our LBs.

Only 8 more weeks until Gregory is eligible:)

Or if our FO had the sense not to draft and give contracts to drug addicts, domestic abusers, lazy bums, and players with potentially career ending injuries

Stop taking long shots

So the FO did not know Hardy was a woman beater cut by his team, Ro was lazy and had no work ethic, Gregory was a druggie when they gave them those contracts?

Maybe you just don't know the meaning of "hind sight "?

Still don't know why they re-signed this guy. Waste of money.

I know it very well....read my post again....or maybe you don't know the meaning of understanding what you read.
What I posted has nothing to do with what you just posted. But whatever your agenda is, go for it. As maybe you are one of these posters that are short sighted, and only see your views no matter what.
