Romo being showcased?

I heard on the radio coming home this morning that Romo is starting this weekend in order to showcase Romo for the Jets' benefit. Seems that Parcells wants to trade Romo for Ramsey because Ramsey has more experience.
Admittedly, the source is somewhat dubious. It came from a Dallas radio station, 92.5. The person reporting this was a local sportscaster with the radio station named Jack "Lockerroom" Lindstrom. I am not trying to say that this is gospel truth, other than I DEFINITELY heard this report this a.m.
Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I still don't know why we didn't just trade him last year for the third or possibly a second that the Jets were offering. That was just plain stupid.

Showcasing him for the Jets is merely speculation, but I do not doubt there is a two-fold reason for his playing time.

This is his contract year so Bill wants to see what he has. We very well may keep him, but if a team such as the Jets come calling again with the widely reported third rounder for him, well we would be nuts not to take that deal...

Personally I like Ramsey, and he grew up a Cowboy fan, but he needs alot of work after the old ball coach ruined him. I'm not sure he could be in the same room with Roy without breaking into a cold sweat...

Have heard nothing of this rumor or even anything related to the idea of Romo for Ramsey.

I am NOT saying you did not hear this on the radio I have heard or read nothing of it anywhere else.

I think during the offseason there was a Rumor that the Jets may have been interested in Romo but I believe the cowboys front office shot that down saying it was not true.

Strange.

What exactly has Ramsey shown that would be appealing? He takes about as many sacks as Bledsoe does.

You know it is funny really. People always want BP to be open and candid, and when he is they don't believe him.

BP told us exactly what he was doing with Romo and people still try to make their own theories up.

Why would the Jets want to trade a player that they only recently traded for?

A local tool named Brian Estridge was talking about this this yesteray afternoon, but they made it clear that it was completely speculation on his part and nothing that anyone had heard.

Still, I wonder if that could have been the source of the rumor.

Really, I don't get this whole "showcasing" thing. Maybe it happens in baseball when a team is way out of the race and wants to trade someone for future prospects. But if Romo plays and looks great, which would be the only time the Jets would want him, why wouldn't we just keep him?

I think it's obvious that Parcells loves the kid and is going to give him every chance to succeed.

Romo - with an expiring contract - is not exactly "trade worthy", I don't think.

Now THAT is a story if it happens.

I seriously doubt it though.

We got too much invested in Tony already.
He knows the system, plus I think he's our starting Qb in October.

And Chuck Fairbanks said on Tuesday about Romo: (http://www.***BANNED-URL***/sharedcont...y.780a154.html)"He can make all the throws. He just needs the repetitions. Can he play in this league? Damn right he can."

Who ever started this BS is a complete moron.

Ramsey was traded for a 6th.

We supposedly turned down a 3 for Romo from the Jets (I don't buy that).

Now wer'e going to trade Romo for Ramsey?

Do the math.

Well, I just posted what I heard and in my opinion, it might make sense. We KNOW that Ramsey can win games in this league, he has done it. We DON'T know if Romo can win games in this league. He has never done it. (All due respect to coach Fairbanks). We KNOW that Parcells likes to have proven commodities rather than young unknowns on the team. It just might have some legs, this story, I mean.

Is it just me or does it seem like trade rumors with the Jets come up an awful lot and end up being bogus?

Last year, Romo for a 3rd rounder.

Draft time, Julius to the Jets.

Now, we're showcasing Romo for them.

I don't buy any of them personally. If we're showcasing him it is for the coaching staff to evaluate him with the 1st team minus TO.

Sometimes isn't the logical conclusion the one to draw?

Besides, I have a question... Has anyone really heard that Parcells likes Ramsey? I'm not saying he doesn't, but I've never read that. I may have seen it as an internet rumor, but I don't remember Parcells ever actually saying it.

Parcells is always talking about our young QBs not being "ruined" or "lost" by taking a beating too early in their careers... Seems like Ramsey is the perfect example of that.

Ramesy can win games?

In games he started, he has posted an 8-11 record. Fellow 2002 first round quarterbacks David Carr (1st Overall) has an 18-42 record as a starter and Joey Harrington's (3rd Overall) is 18-38. Ramsey has never started consistently and the Commanders have been noted for deficiencies in pass protection, running offense (until 2004) and mediocre receivers. His 75.0 passer rating.

Even Quincy Carter could do better please, i'd take my chacnes with ROmo

W/L is more about the team than just the QB. Ramsey is hitting 55.7% of his passes and has 34 TD to 29 ints. Not great numbers but clearly would be a better backup who can come in for a prolonged period of time and still give the team a good chance to win. Granted this is all rumor and until more info comes out this should be treated as nothing more than gossip
