It may sound strange but I don't see him leaving Dallas unless it's for Denver.

I think he'd retire before he went to NYJ.

He would probably go to the Cardinals but Dallas would never let that happen.

IMO he takes a paycut to stay in Dallas, goes to Denver, or I can actually see him being a coach here.
I think Romo is the same Romo he has always been. He's the same player who strove hard, overcoming not being drafted and earning the starting position on the team. He's just like many football players. Players want to play. People (not necessarily you) shouldn't begrudge him wanting to do what he loves to do.

I see Prescott sincerely congratulating Prescott and leaving for another team if the opportunity arises. It's what players have done before him. It's what players will do long after his chapter has been written. It's a part of life.

I wish I found the usage of the ignore feature much, much sooner in my time here.

@DallasEast, I don't envy you for not being able to use it. Fight the good fight, my brother. :) I respect the hell out of the mods here, I wouldn't last a second.

Go Dak. Go Tony.
It's old hat for me, my friend. :)

Because he's had untimely-could have won us the game- interceptions. We had like 48 points against Denver, then when all we needed as a first down, he throws a pick and Denver wins. Steelers in 2008. Against the Commanders in 2011 (or 2012). Does he do it the most of the QBs? Probably not, but he's DEFINITELY had untimely interceptions.

Almost all interceptions (except those rare instances that tyke1doe mentioned above) are untimely. He throws INTs at a fairly low rate. That a few happened at the end of a game throughout his entire career doesn't really say much of anything. Actually, considering the defenses around him most of his career, and the necessity to pass so much, it's pretty impressive there are so few.

Spin spin spin.

Who knows? If-and-when Romo does play may prove you prophetic. Maybe it won't. We'll all see (and subsequently remember) in time.

I don't spin anything I'm very clear, I leave it up to posters like you to translate what you want into my comments just to fit an agenda. Romo isn't "likely" to play unless he's needed. Jerry and his entire staff knows this team and Dak are playing exceptionally well and they're not going to bench a hot hand at QB for a QB who hasn't played a regular season game in a full year due to an assortment of injures. Anyone intelligent would not make a move like that as good as Dak and this team are playing right now. This is a better football team than we had in 2014 because of the chemistry and togetherness this team has and the quickest way to change all of that would be to change QBs. Making a QB change is a drastic move that teams only make when they're losing games and need to shake things up to try and change the direction. The last thing the Cowboys need is to shake up what they have going.

They have a great season going that could end up being very special. Jimmy didn't go back to Aikman in 91 despite him being healthy because he had a hot hand at QB who won 5 straight games and stayed with him until a change NEEDED to be made. Belichick never went back to Bledsoe because he was smart enough to know he and no one else had ever won anything with him. He saw he had something going with Brady and stayed with him. It would be the DUMBEST move in the history of sports to pull Dak for Romo when he's having one of the greatest rookie seasons the league has ever seen at QB and the team is WINNING with him. We're not going to get better with Romo, we can only get worse because Dak has played great just look at the numbers and the wins.

We have the best team in the NFC and I can't for the life of me imagine Jerry, Garrett and the rest of the staff being in agreement that the best thing for this team is to go back to Romo with Dak and the team playing great football. A move like that could divide the locker room and the fan base. It could very well destroy this season that's been so enjoyable to watch. It makes ZERO sense to go back to where we've already been with Romo who only has 2 playoff wins and has never gotten this team past the second round of the playoffs.

That's a lot more spinning atop your initial reaction to me simply posting a one-word reply of "noted."

The only spinning is coming from you. Make note of whatever you want to fit your agenda. You "noted" four words "no question" and "he will" from a post that consisted of much more than that in an attempt to twist my comment. LOL

I highlighted words in your comment. I posted a one word reply. Your quote was re-posted in its entirety. The context was plain.

You're arguing with yourself.

Part of what you highlighted was in black and you highlighted four words in red "no question" and "he will" to try and make it appear I was definitive on a comment that I wasn't definitive on. LOL. It's all part of your agenda. You're the one arguing, you came looking for me like you always do when you're looking to stir something. Only YOU make a big deal about crap like this, have you noticed that?

My own words that you decided to cherry pick and highlight along with four other words that you emphasized even more in an attempt to drive home that I was being definitive on something that I wasn't. You failed!

You claimed you put me on ignore days ago but it's obvious you can see my quotes (which can't be seen if you had me on ignore) because you keep passing out "likes" to those who are arguing with me. LOL

If Romo plays well, 2016 could be his final season in Dallas if the front office named Prescott as the starter for 2017.

If Romo gets injured, Prescott will relieve him and 2016 could be Romo's final season in Dallas since its unlikely he will remain as a backup.

However which way the situation is cut, it really doesn't matter if Romo plays this season since the possibility exists that he will not be with the team next season.
I wonder if Romo being the starter, winning the Superbowl, then retiring, would make everyone happy.

Good question.

Every fan will be happy that the team won the Superbowl. A number of fans will be content that one of the old guard that includes Witten and him finished their careers winning a championship. I think many will be happy for him when he retires because his career ended on the ultimate high note.

However, I think there will also be a prevailing "I'm Glad He's Gone!" satisfaction that will fuel some folks' happiness. To them, Romo has been a point of derision--mainly because he has never performed as well as they wanted him to in a team sport.

Will everyone be happy? In my opinion, yes but the euphoria will be tainted because everyone's happiness will not be motivated by the same perspective of the man. I think there shall be those chanting, "God bless you Romo!" and others chanting, "Hit the road jack and dont'cha come back no more no more no more no more!"

Romo is a classy guy but I selfishly hope he gets in at least one dig at some of his critics while hugging on that Lombardi Trophy. If anyone deserves the opportunity to call people what they really are after years of constantly being maligning unnecessarily, it's him. I do think a middle finger salute would be somewhat unwarranted though.

I think all of that makes sense. For me, I have always appreciated Tony Romo and want him to get a ring this year. If there is any reason for me to be "happy" about him retiring would be to get that large salary off the books to fix the defense. I would not be mad at all if played another year though.
