Romo Didn't Like The Call

If it's guess work, isn't that like the announcers trying to start up crap about Dez...why say it...
If anything, Tony would agree with Dez...throw it to him....

Doubt it. He already saw what happens when you put the season on the line with Dez

That head shake was PTSD from last year

I haven't watched it, but if Romo didn't like the call, it was probably NOT because he was thinking, "Cassel will make a perfect throw and Dez will drop it."

Really, kind of defeats the whole post

yeah, but I'm not an announcer. Just an observer....

and the , "ohhhhh poor Dez meme" is getting old. He brings it upon himself.

But like I said in the post, its just guesswork. Im not trying to "start crap about Dez".

Romo was frustrated with something, and that was my initial gut feeling....

I saw that too....... I "guessed" he was disgusted at whatever Dez was saying. I was thinking Dez was saying "throw me the ball" and Romo just wanted him to shut up.

Dez got his wish.....then dropped the ball..................

thats all guesswork on my part....But Romo wasnt happy about something, thats for sure.
I thought the same thing as you.

He'll definitely coach in some capacity. He's too competitive not to.

For all the bad Jerry did, when he questioned his work-ethic and asked him to put in Peyton Manning hours - suddenly something changed in Romo. He went from athletic guy that can make plays - to assassin that slices up anyone he plays.

Jerry never questioned his work ethic. That was a spin by the media. It was more telling of Garrett, who didn't have Romo involved in the game planning.

This is when Jerry started making changes with Garrett being the play caller.

I didn't like it either. I don't view a 20 yard back should throw as a high percentage play on 3rd and 1 with the game on the line. I'd much prefer a high percentage shorter pass designed to get the 1st down and extend the drive.
It was high percentage play he dropped the ball period. When did back shoulder throws become low percentage? People say any ole thing nowadays

Stop it.

He made the catch against GB.

The league is so incompetent that they had to change the rule just so they could make up for their bogus decision. The refs actually called it a catch and then the league had to get involved and overrule the catch.

It is an embarrassment to the game and we hear fans and media constantly say that they don't know what is a catch anymore because of it and it has been another notch in what is causing the decline in the popularity in the league.

Catch or no catch.. What a dumb play to run with the game on the line.

That just shows we have nothing to go to outside of our guy out athleting their guy.

Im sick of relying solely on player talent. Especially in situations as big as those.

I'll say it again, I hope Romo becomes the team's OC when he retires.

Screw OC. I want him to be the coach. He has the charisma, knowledge, and I think he will create gameplans that utilizes everyone's strengths (like Rivera in Carolina) unlike the coaching staff we have now where they think they are the geniuses.

I didnt say it wasnt a catch....please do reading better next time.

I said game on the line...3rd and 1, dez 1:1, air it out to dez.

All I said was it was the same call. Some people's kids...

Who cares if he didn't like it? The play should've worked. People will be blame coaching but that's a prime example of players lacking execution. Pass should've been caught.

I hated the call.

That's the kind of crap I hate about JAson Garrett and his scheme.

The season on the line and we run a similar play to Dez in GB last year.

3rd and short yesterday and we're running a back shoulder pass.

How about designing a play that gets a guy open instead of relying on choice routes and back shoulder passes.

better yet..run the ball behind this vaunted line

Both good posts.

The NFL is declining in popularity? I wouldn't know that from all the fantasy football stats they constantly flash at the bottom of the screen making me wait like 45 mins to find out who won other games.

They aren't low percentage when Eli throws them to D. Harris.

If I've got a 1-on-1 with my best WR who is arguably the best WR in the league versus Sterling Moore and the protection is there, I'm taking it.

It's not all about relying solely on player talent. The receivers have to make reads and the QB has to make the reads with them.

What we struggle to do is to move around the pieces and find mismatches. Mismatches still require one player to execute over another. We got the mismatch, Dez just didn't catch it. And Cassel could have gone elsewhere with the ball if he wanted to.

The league is having a real problem with attendance. Mainly because ticket prices are getting so high and with the continued improvement in home entertainment systems, it's making attending a game live less appealing. Jerry cited that in creating AT&T Stadium...that a videoboard like that was needed because of issues like that. The league has also suffered from concussion awareness that has turned off many fans to the game. In the PBS concussion documentary, the medical examiner that looked at Mike Webster was told by an NFL official that if 10% of the mom's whose kids play football decided to never allow their child to play again it would destroy the league. So, even a small percentage...which has already happened...has hurt the game's overall popularity.

Showing FanDuel and DraftKings commercials ad nauseum has nothing to do with a game's popularity. Those are gambling Web sites already owned by huge corporations. Gambling on the NFL was hugely popular in the 70's when the league wasn't nearly as popular. It would be like reasoning that the increased Viagra and adult web site commercials on TV and radio have made sex more popular.

That's why Goodell is trying hard to get a team in London. It's a typical corporate America response to sagging sales...try to find that new revenue stream to pump an influx of new sales. And that's what will probably drive a team to finally get in LA. My guess is it will be the Rams. So when they leave St. Louis, the other owners unhappy with their stadiums and tax deals will hold their cities hostage and say 'hey, we can always move to St. Louis which is a good sized market that is starving for an NFL franchise.'

What I can't understand is Cassel has shown he can run the ball and is sturdy enough to take a hit. Why not roll him out and give him a run-pass option?
