So if this is "fake news", what's really happening?

He is just ready to do whatever and Jerry Jones is holding out for a bounty of draft picks?
I'm sure he's not thrilled.
But the guy is not going around taking polls on who is for or against him.
When has he ever done that kind of thing.

Who would this source be that knows his innermost feelngs?
Candice?

People are just bored.

I've been of a mind for some time now that Romo is in denial of the seriousness of his physical vulnerability. I think the team is evidently inclined to believe that re-injury might raise its ugly head up yet again at any given moment during his return to active duty. Naturally, Romo is taking this situation sorely to heart, in light of the hard fall from his formerly lofty perch. Personally, I'm hoping Tony sees fit to accept a position with one of the networks to become a commentator. I can't help but believe he'd likely do exceptionally well in that capacity. I think his intellect and personality would be a lock to bring him success in that field.

The longer this drags on, the more likely it is that Dallas gets absolutely nothing for him, not more.

That is why all along I doubted the notion that we get anything for him. The contract is what it is, cannot be traded and eventually there becomes the fiscal guarantees coming into play as soon as facility workouts begin.

Denver and Houston know who they are dealing with and all they have had to do all along is sit back and wait.

That is what happens when you give a player a mortgaged contract and then vow publicly to "do right" by the player. It dissolves any and all leverage for the team.

Well if the bitterness is already there and Romo has essentially outcasted himself, then just make him stew at this point.

Very surprised that he would take this personally. Thought he was a professional
Well, if you were told you are getting cut and then it was reneged upon, most in his position would take it personally. Even the swell guys like Romo.

Retire and we'll call ya if we need ya

I think this is what Jerry wants. He wants to retain his rights just in case. It would almost be like having a 54th roster spot for another QB you know you could call and he would be at the facility in a few hours ready to play. That beats watching Moore play while Houston is rolling with Romo.

I don't think Romo is taking the current situation personally because he knows how the business works. I think what he took personally was not being given his job back when he was healthy. Any and all negative feelings stem from that. It's hard to accept that people you were really close with decide someone else is better than you. That can certainly be personal.

So now Tony Romo, who had always been professional and taken the high road, is not that anymore due too some random tweet from a random "source"?

Look, no player that ever lived would be happy about not getting a chance to compete fairly for their job.
No exceptions.
And it does look like he may have been told one thing, then had that flip.
But he doesnt deserve to have his rep torn apart due to a tweet.

Hes not on record as saying one single negative thing so far....which would put himin the est 1% compared orhers in this situation.

That's true. He sees opportunities in Denver and Houston slip away because they won't touch him under contract.

What's your prediction on how this finally ends?

And they are repeating the same thing "he is under contract". The obvious answer and basically announces to their fans that they are not in the business of giving up anything.

By forcing a professional athlete to honour his contract and shut up while we get something back for him? yeah, horribly wrong
"Shut up"?
What exactly did he say? NOTHING

Anyway...So will Dallas honor the contract and pay him the remaining 54 mil due him?
Of course not.
Come on, teams are far worse about breaking contracts than players are.

I agree and as soon as another team loses their starting QB, Romo is suddenly worth a 1st round pick.

An outright release. Won't happen now that is for certain. That would make Jerry Jones have to answer the tough questions.
For his sake, I just hope they don't wait so long to release him that he finds himself with few suitors, and possibly none he actually wants to play for.

I doubt they string it out past the draft. It is simply not happening. Romo can pout, especially if they try to bar him from working out at the facility.

If you want to torture yourself and assume he gets traded, the best case scenario is a trade in June, very much like what happened to Steve McNair.
