I'm not saying Jane Slater made this up. I'm saying she got bad innuendo-like, silly season, info from her...uh..."source"
:muttley:

Everyone is racing to get their two minutes of national sports news fame.
Think of all the bad information thats already been out there so far.
The track record is terrible for all of these reporters' "sources" throughout this ordeal.

The automatic assumption at this point should be that these throw-crap-at-the-wall tweets are wrong...until proven otherwise.

The only drama would be from enraged fans who would claw their own eyes out watching their departed hero contributing to another team's success.

Actually, it would be kind of fun to watch.
lol Very likely true. I mean, I wish him well in whatever he does, but I'm not going to to dwell over his success on another team.

That's true. He sees opportunities in Denver and Houston slip away because they won't touch him under contract.

the contract has nothing to do with it. if they were to compete for his services, they'd end up bidding for him probably ~$15MM for 1 year anyway.

There is no premium pick coming. That's not a real thing that will happen.

Neither is Romo getting a chance to compete for the starting job in Dallas in 2017. He lost his job because the team doesn't trust him to stay healthy. Looking pretty in training camp does nothing to disprove that.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Cowboys want Romo's contract on the books in 2017+ even less than Romo wants to be on the bench. There is probably less conflict between the two sides than people are assuming, but of course that doesn't make much of a headline.

Really? What's truly ignorant and laughable is taking all of this completely unsupported stuff and running with it as fact. But I guess that's never occurred to you?

But carry on.
Who is saying it is a "fact"? It is the only evidence that is around, accurate or even fabricated, that it is capable of forming an opinion around.

I guess I could sit around and expect a blow by blow factual timeline on this, but I am not going to hold my breath.

of course he should! He's left it all on the field and everyone turned his back on him. I'd feel pooped on too.
The assertion that everyone turned their back on Romo is absurd. Romo is getting Bradied, Bledsoed, etc etc. It's what happens to aging, injury-prone players. It's nothing personal unless you take it upon yourself to make it personal.

"Shut up"?
What exactly did he say? NOTHING

Anyway...So will Dallas honor the contract and pay him the remaining 54 mil due him?
Of course not.
Come on, teams are far worse about breaking contracts than players are.

they aren't contractually obligated to give him that $54MM............therefore would not be breaking contract.

Well, if you were told you are getting cut and then it was reneged upon, most in his position would take it personally. Even the swell guys like Romo.

But do we know he was getting cut?

All these are rumors including the current one

So if this is "fake news", what's really happening?

He is just ready to do whatever and Jerry Jones is holding out for a bounty of draft picks?
I mean there is no story here. Anyone with two eyes and half a brain can see the man wanted to play last year. He was not given that chance and his time in Dallas is done. This story is saying he's distancing himself from players and coaches who did not support him. Makes sense. If you were on a leave of absence from your job and it was obvious you were not returning would you be popping in to talk to your old boss and colleagues daily?

This is much ado about nothing.

Romo has handled this as well as humanely possible. Any suggestion otherwise is able absolute joke.

Truth is usually in the middle. I don't doubt there is some mild annoyance at least. I am sure Romo is ready to get on with his life and start over.

I doubt it is a full blown hostage crisis. That is what would happen if they locked him out later this offseason.

By forcing a professional athlete to honour his contract and shut up while we get something back for him? yeah, horribly wrong
What exactly has Romo done to run his mouth?

Last year he publicly and privately supported Dak. This offseason he thanked the Cowboys and fans for support. And he's said nothing else. Unless you heard differently from your Barber...

If you want to believe it as false, go right ahead.

LOL if you actually look at a situation like this and demand "proof". It will never happen.

then don't assert things with such certainty. you have no better idea than i do if he was personally told he'd be released. i'm not saying he definitely wasn't told that. i just don't know. and that's ok to admit - try it sometime.

So staying will avoid drama? Just want to make sure I understand what you are suggesting.

Once he is gone, who cares? The players in that locker room sure won't. Fans will but in the grand scheme of things, that is irrelevant.

All along people keep throwing concepts out there like perception and Romo's feelings when all that really matters is how this team can move on, one way or the other. That is the most important thing. I would hope when there are real games being played that the Cowboys on the roster are more concerned about their own play rather than how he is doing elsewhere and where he takes them.

Who cares?

The media cares
The joneses will care
Fans of Texans or Broncos will care
Cowboy fans will sure as hell care esp if we get bounced early

So.....
Well, apparently almost everybody except you

Strife or not, still no reason to cut him. So many people worried about Tony's "feelings".

At the end of the day, outright releasing Tony is not smart for the team. And doing what's best for the team should be all Jerry thinks about. Hold on to Romo until a team is desperate enough to give you the compensation you're asking for.
