Everything I have read on this is that it is a very minor procedure that would have been dumb to hold off on getting fixed.

David Moore ‏@DavidMooreDMN 9m Tony Romo on removal of cyst that will keep him out of OTAs: "If this was the regular season and I had to play next week, I could."

More Romo: "This is just about being smart. That's why I did it now. This will have no effect on training camp." Hopes to play in mini-camp

Still more Romo: "It was something I felt was nagging me just enough...It's done and it's made me feel better."

This DMN story has Tony Romo quotes on his minor back procedure, says he could be ready for mini-camp: http://j.mp/ZaeShS

@ProFootballTalk 1 of those where I type it & go, "It wouldn't be minor if it happened to me." In other news, the 1000th successful surgery!

I wonder if it was a Pilonidal Cyst. They occur in the lower back, upper butt region. They can become disgustingly big and deep. I had one "scraped out" and it was horribly painful. For weeks I had to have gauze jammed in it to keep it clean. Then every week or so the doctor would go in and scrape the wound to check it out. It is as painful as it sounds because before the sraping they would have to numb the wound by jamming needles in it. I hope to never have one again.

Sounds pretty bad, but if he had to go through all that, you would never know. Romo downplayed the procedure as he's pretty far along in his recovery.

Yup .......
Yep. It would not surprise me.

There would be no reason whatsover otherwise not to play a few rounds of golf in the offseason.

For example, Drew Brees tweeted that he just spent an entire day doing a Wrangler commercial shoot. Same difference except a round of gold only takes a few hours.

I was actually disappointed when Romo said he skipped a round of golf....thinking surely he is not that nonsense thatsome subscribe to. I mean, what would he be doing instead? Watching TV? Eating? lol We've already heard that he does a lot of his film work (when applicable) at night at VR.

It was. I had to take Vicodin for about 2 weeks after and I'm not someone that just pops a pill. I'd tell you to look it up but you don't want to see pics online.

Again, not sure if this was it...just hope it isn't for his sake. It heals pretty well though and he shouldn't have issues.

If he was semi active, it probably wasn't the same thing then..unless his was smaller. Tough to be active the first 2 days or so. So sounds good!!

Jon Machota ‏@jonmachota 8m Tony Romo: "I'd rather be 100%, not 96%. It's done and it's made me feel better."

So the real truth is out why tony romo is not playing any golf, not even teams tourney, and why they needed A Corp to throw in practice

Romo missing otas and possibly minicamp with the cowboys likely going to a rookie center and going to two tight end offense is a big deal

Tim MacMahon ‏@espn_macmahon 1m
Tony Romo will put in the 2011 version of Peyton Manning-type time during OTAs.

Jean-Jacques Taylor ‏@JJT_ESPNDallas 28m

Peyton missing minicamps in 2012 really killed his season working with new receivers.
