Excellent post. It is too bad that is a freeze frame of the tackle. That camera angle is perfect. An animated gif or video at that particular angle would have been better. Simple (not moderate or super but simple) comprehension of physics and human anatomy would then provide some readers greater understanding why the injury was atypical instead of what is commonly thought as the typical result of football related blunt trauma.I said it was technically ‘crossing the line’ and in another post, even if you are going to argue he engaged and Avril, couldn’t pull back, it was a pre-season game and Avril was clearly trying to hit hard.
And I even made a mistake in my original post. Avril wasn’t even engaged with Smith, he went around the outside of Doug Free and looped all the way around, meaning ran totally outside and came from behind and blind-sided Romo after he took off, meaning he basically was out of the play but kept coming.
Not sure what ‘playing hard’ has to do in the context of the rules that you can’t hit a sliding QB in the rules today.
Either case, none of that changes the fact the injury was textbook football trauma and would happen to anyone, meaning it was biomechanical and the standard healing time was 6 weeks without surgery.
This idea Romo was just chilling is a myth. He was sliding forward and Avril hit him and bent him forward.
Not here to defend Romo's health, but that's not true.
The last two times he took an NFL hit he got injured. Not 4. No need to exaggerate as your point still stands to some degree.
I think he got hurt 2 times in the last 7-8 good hits he took, and then 3 times in 9...so not good.
He got hit several times (3 sacks and more hits) in the Philly game, then he got hit hard twice at Miami (4 days before the Carolina debacle). That's probably one reason he was so screwed up in the Thanksgiving day game vs the Panthers. hort week not even fully healed from earlier int he eyar, then beat yup some at Miami only get face the eventual 15-1 Panthers on really about 3 1/2 days rest.
That was truly ugly.
I don't know how he would've been health wise, but he was taking Wednesdays off from practice already, as you recall. He really needed more time in 2015.

No, I'm not. I just realize we needed to move on. And I realize we need to move on from Dak. And if the next QB can't cut it either, then we need to move on from them. And we will eventually get another QB that the team can be competitive with. Well we will see. Romo 2.0 is playing for the Vikings. He just needed a team too. Now he got one it doesn’t appear it’s working out too well.
But only by surprise and at halftime like in The Replacements. And I would like it if Dez picked up Romo and held him over his head like a cheerleader because Romo has probably let himself go now and has a huge butt like Kardashian and Dez would need both hands.
