Romo interview

Sure. Where can I look up the 2016 result that wouldn't have stalled with Romo? I'd like to actually see what that looks like for once. I watched from 2006 - 2015 and didn't find an example.
Ok ok Dak is the most promising QB we have ever had. All the scouts were wrong on him. Romo would have made no difference. Dak was way better his rookie year than Romo ever was. Dak is a diamond surrounded by trash. Dak rookie year, Dak rookie year, Dak rookie year. Cmon, you can say how you really feel. Oh btw, watch dak against the Giants in his rookie year. You could see from those games where his weaknesses were and that he was not the answer. Look at his eyes in the second game. He had no clue.

And don't sneeze at Atlanta's offensive output in their game against GB - they had the top offense in the NFL that season, and ended up in the Super Bowl.

Our offense would have been better than them in 2016 if we had Romo in there. With Zeke getting the ball any time the opposing defense tried to play the pass? Who would want to go into a nickel or dime and hear Romo yelling Kill Kill before he hands it off to Zeke? Or load up on the run? We could have fielded an offensive juggernaut for the playoffs. Instead we went with 'good enough.'

Yeah, so Dak is better than Romo. Tell me how that guarantees Romo goes in and improves upon a pretty stellar performance. You guys just want to assume the best possible outcome. Let me give you some examples, which I am pretty sure Romo lovers are going to be close minded about.

Romo is better than Brandon Weeden, fair to say? On 2 separate occasions in the same game, a horrible Weeden came in and led the offense to more points than Romo in less time played. That occurred against Washington in 2014 in which the Romo led offense was able to score 7 points. Romo went out and Brandon Weeden came into the game for 2 drives and the offense scored 10 points. Romo returned and we lost in overtime.

This also occurred in the Philadelphia game in week 2 of 2015. Romo led offense was able to get 6 points and Weeden came in in the 4th quarter throwing a TD pass to seal the game.

Another example is in 2013. Fair to day Romo is better than Kyle Orton? Well, Orton needed to play in week 17 against Eagles. They scored 22 points. Romo got a chance to play the Eagles earlier in the year and the offense put up 17 points.

You can't just assume there would be better results if you insert a better player. Particularly if the player being replaced played a great game. If Dak put up a stinker like he is currently doing, the Romo loving whinefest would make a little sense. But that didn't happen.

Now, let me hear the "but, but, buts" so spin away. Dance for me Romo lovers.

Dak has and will continue speak for himself with his play. Every player has bad games, but there is also a degree of consistency/a trend line to expect from a player. When players are consistently good or consistently bad... You are what you are and Dak has been consistently bad. The more in denial the FO and fans are of this fact the more the cowboys will pay for it.

Don't worry about it. You'd have to understand football beyond Madden.

Blah blah blah

How far has this fan base fallen, that the best thing to happen to them, something that people can’t stop
Focusing on

Is the chance that MAYBE they win a Super Bowl if a now retired QB plays a couple of seasons ago.

Is this the depths of desperation that Jerry and Garret have pushed us to? That you have to find comfort in making up possible scenarios of what might have been a couple seasons ago?

Interesting.

I wonder how desperate some (not all but some) people feel or felt about the following two scenarios hoping the odds (e.g. chance) would more than favor the team winning a Super Bowl?
  • 2016. Not utilizing a veteran quarterback in favor of a rookie quarterback, although comprehending no rookie quarterback has ever competed for or won an NFL championship in its entire 94-year history?
  • 2018. Desiring the return of a retired quarterback, understanding (if being logical) the possibility of his return is utter fantasy, in order to unseat the current veteran quarterback, which history demonstrates has the greater odds (e.g. change) of leading a team to a championship than a rookie quarterback?
I am going with 2016 and have basically stated such both then and now. The illogical euphoria then is the polar opposite of what is felt now. Regardless, the desperation of wanting a Super Bowl then was much more prevalent than what exists now. And in it is extremely likely the same level of greater desperation was shared equally by Jerry Jones and some people then as well.

Was anyone else listening to the Ben and Skin show yesterday on 105.3 the fan around 5:45ish?

Ben Rogers said something is in the works that could positively affect the Cowboys and their fans that would, (as he described it) "break the internet"

The only 2 possibilities that come to mind that would be internet breaking are:

1. Romo comes back
2. Dez comes back

Ben went on to say that he got this from the same source who predicted Witten's retirement 2 weeks before it happened

side note: I don't think the Earl Thomas thing is it because that wouldn't really be internet breaking..

This thread just proves that Prescott makes no one forget about Romo.

This experiment is sadly over. Stick a fork in Dak, hes done

I loved Romo and I am praying for Dak. Romo has healed up and the rules are more favorable to the QB so it’s possible. Only he really knows what his body is like. We would be better with him IF he could stay healthy. It would be good for Dak to backup for a while and mature. But it doesn’t seem likely to be the case.

This doesn’t address my point. They may have been better with a healthy Romo in 2016, but that doesn’t somehow mean they were bad without him.
