Defense wins championships. The QB gets over glorified as a part of it or a down fall of that. That's just the way it is. However, I already said something about talent surrounding QB is also important when I brought up Marino.

It is the way it is because those in the media say that is the way it is. There have been great players in many different sports who have ended their careers without a championship rings not because that individual was not good enough but because the team was not good enough. To lay the blame at the foot of one man in what many consider the ultimate team sports is stupid

The first mistake most participants in this thread made was that they thought they could have a rational conversation with DaBoyz4life.

Yeah I know regular season success means **** IMO.

What an absolutely stupid post.

By your logic, Dan Marino is trash? Manning would be trash without his win over the Bears?

I have yet to see a championship team that has not had great talent through out the lineup playing quality football during that portion of the season. Montana could win it all but when the 85 Bears came calling and the pass protection broke down Joe did not look all that magical. Currently one of the top QB's is Brees at last count he has 0 rings to his credit yet anyone who wants to tell me he is not a great QB is only showing how clueless they are when it comes to what it takes to win championships.
See, this post is right on the money. Brees has not won a Super Bowl. It is absolutely stupid to think that he is therefore incapable of it. No one suggests that he and the Saints can't win a Super Bowl. My question is, why not?

This is his 9th year in the NFL. Some people seem to conveniently forget that he was with the Chargers before the Saints. Not only that but he had growing pains with the Chargers. Including a season with 18 turnovers and another with 20.

Now suddenly he's considered some kind of iconic winning QB that we have no parallel to. I find that to be utterly ludicrous. The fact of the matter is he has 7 years as a starting QB in the NFL and has led his team to the playoffs twice and is 1-2.

8-8, 4-12, 12-4, 9-7. Those are his years with the Chargers. 10-6, 7-9, 8-8. Those are his previous years with the Saints. His team has missed the playoffs the last 2 years. Tony's team missed it last year. The year before he led his team to the playoffs with a 13-3 record. Yes, they lost. So have Brees' teams.

I am not disparaging Drew Brees. He is a damned fine QB. Anyone who thinks he cannot win it all is out of their freaking minds. So are the people who think Tony Romo can't because he hasn't. It is utterly stupid logic fueled by bitterness over past failures.

When you have a top notch QB, and the Cowboys do, you have a shot at winning it all. Every player is part of the problems with a team and part of the solution with a team. You have to grade whether a player is more problem than solution or more solution than problem.

Tony Romo is far more solution than he is problem. Anyone who thinks differently is crazy.

Dan Marino is the greatest QB to never win a superbowl. Manning is just flat out the best QB ever.

And he was injured for a few of those loses.

Point being... Romo doesn't lose often, and he is just getting better.

I'd be flat as a pancake under Phillips.

I'd rather have a QB be 10-26 if it means they won a super bowl.

If your quarterback is going 10-26 over the course of three season (an average three wins per season), your team aint seeing the Super Bowl, let alone a playoff game.

I've always thought the "Romo can't win in the playoffs" stigma was overrated.

He loses a game on a botched field goal attempt that was more a product of an extreme slick ball and a replay review that put the Cowboys in that situation.

The Giants game was loss because the defense gave out, Crayton does catch a pass that hits him square in the hands and because we're playing a receiver who clearly didn't get his legs back by game time.

Yes, Romo could have played better in the Giants game by getting rid of the ball. But if the line can't block, how many quarterbacks are going to have time to throw.

Tony hasn't done bad in his playoff games. It was more a team thing that a Jake Delhomme-5-INT-playoff meltdown.

But things get exaggerated to the hilt when it involves the Dallas Cowboys and a Cowboy quarterback.

To me a great quarterback is a natural born leader, something Romo is not.Romo is a good quarterback that has yet to demand and command the respect of the locker room.If Romo wants to be considered an elite quarterback he needs to step up and lead this team, until then he's just another good but not great player.

I guess I'm in the minority. I like Wade Phillips.

I like Wade too, I just don't think he's a championship caliber HC. So far in his career, he's proven that too, with his winless postseason record.
