No, but he is not the best.

But best in these matter of subjective. Is Emmitt Smith the greatest RB of all time? Stats say yes he holds the yardage mark and has 3 rings to show for it but some will argue he was not the best. Roger only had 2 SB rings but I'll put Roger numbers againt Bradshaw any day of the week. SB are so much more about team than QB.

Something to think about....

We could be watching the best Dallas Cowboys QB ever right now.....this isn't sacrilege, just sit back and watch the games....if Romo continues doing this, we very well could be watching the "birth" of the very best QB this franchise has ever had.

Now, I'm sure that there will be some out there that would be tapping the brakes on this, however, they would then be lacking the appreciation for what we are seeing.

He is already tied with Staubach for most 300 yard games in a CAREER.....he's on only 7 behind Aikman, and he has YET to start 16 games still....Vince Young has started more games, yet for me, it seems as though Romo is the more veteran starter.

I'm sure that some cried foul back in 1991-1992 when some people said that Aikman was the best ever....yet I'd say that he is.

Do NOT be surprised when it is all said and done, that Romo tops the list for best Cowboys QB's of all time.

Yep, my foot is on the accelerator.
He very well could turn out to be the best Cowboys QB ever. I don't disagree with you. To those who say "Whoa, pardner. I say enjoy the potential greatness. I wouldn't put much emphasis on the number of 300 yard games though. It was a different game with different rules when Roger was playing. Aikman had fewer than he could have because Emmitt was such a great closer that often times they would take the ball out of Troy's hands and put it in Emmitts in the 3rd & 4th qtrs.

I understand that about Roger's days and the offense that we ran with Aikman, however, to be only 7 away from Aikman in less than 16 games, compared to the amount of years that both Roger and Aikman played is pretty amazing.

I concur about enjoying the potential greatness.....although I HATE the "P" word. :)

I know what you mean. But it is in the dictionary and it does have meaning.:D

Your point on Romo's success in less than 16 games is right on. It's really amazing when you think about all the things he's accomplished in such a short time. He's already been O player of the week three (?) times now? Sheesh, the sky's the limit here.

Yep....and remember the talk at the end of last year? The Mediots saying that other teams didn't have tape to watch on him and that is what caught up to him in the last 5 games?

Well....they have plenty of tape...even more now, yet he's even better than last year. :)

I've been fortunate to see almost all of the Great NFL QBs, not just the Dallas Greats but the NFL's best.

I can honestly say, even with out the numbers in front of me, I do not remember any QB that has been better than Tony in his first 13 starts.

When I watch Tony Romo I see:

Roger "the Dodger" Staubach with his elusiveness and decisiveness.

Faurve with his love for the game and his ability to play like a kid on the vacant lot next door. Controlled Gunslinger aptitude.

Brady with his coolness under fire, quick decisions, with the innate ability to read a defense quickly and accurately.

P.Manning.....maybe not quite the arm but with the take charge mentality, a natural born leader, and with the same demeanor.

Too me it's as if Tony was cloned to be QB w/a little of many of the Greats traits, athleticism, intelligence, and DNA that made them some of the best to play the game.

We are Lucky to have this kid......I look forward to seeing him play every week.

What will Tony "Houdini" Romo do today......Dammmmmmm this is fun.:laugh2:

I tell you folks... I haven't had this much fun since my aunt Gertrude caught her $%$&^^&* in the ringer......;):D

Happy to read so many see what I'm seeing.

When wrote I believe Romo's the best QB playing. I MEAN exactly what I WROTE.

Of course his 14 game career pales in comp to the likes of Brady, Manning, Staubach and Aikman.

I'm not making his HOF presentation.
I'm making an evaluation of his play this year.

That's all I care about, Its all any of us should care about.
What he did last year or even next year cant help us now.

Right now is all that matters. This years Superbowl is everything!

I didn't sweat Aikman's legacy in 1992.
I think I'll do the same with Romo and enjoy the ride.

Is Tony the best QB playing right now. I'll say no. And rank them this way:

1) Brady
2) Manning
3) Romo
4) Palmer
5) Favre

Now let me ask a question. Who is the NFL's most dangerous QB?

1) Romo
2) Favre
3) Manning
4) Brady

One more? Who is currently the best overall playmaker in the NFL today?

1) Romo
2) Tomlinson
3) B. Westbrook
4) Plax Burress
4) T.O./Moss

My point is you cannot quantify Tony's play as a QB as it's own totality. Romo is the leagues most dynamic player at this point... the ability to consistently create plays where there seems to be none to be made.

Romo is incredible. NFL MVP '07.

I'm so glad the new era has begun. :) Give him some time. He'll make your number one list before you know it.

Excellent post.

I have a question for you.

Who would you prefer to QB your team?

The best QB playing or the most dangerous, best overall playmaker who just won the 2007 MVP.

Tony... there is no player more enjoyable to watch in the league, and it's not close.

1 notch you have to give to Romo over Peyton and Brady, is his ability to make a play, when there is no play to be made.

If the line breaks down for Brady or Peyton, that's it for them. If the line breaks down for Romo, he'll find his way out of that pit-hole, and make a play anyways. He can also sit in the pocket, and destroy you with ease. You may just have a point sir.

Homer threads like this are the reason Cowboy fans are so hated. Romo is playing extremely well, but to say he is the best QB in the NFL right now is just ridicilous in my opinion. Let the guy at least play a full season before you put him in Canton.

It is just no stretch to say he is the best QB playing right now and not ridiculous. His teams record supports it, he play and stats support it and his playmaking ability during these first four games support it. Yes Manning and Brady are playing well too, no doubt, but the argument is there and supportable.

Brady has 140 QB rating, is completing 79%, has 12 TDs and 3 Super Bowl rings and your really going to tell me Romo is better then him right now? Manning calls his own plays and may be the best pure passer to ever play the game. I love Romo and he is playing great but you just cant put him up there with Manning and Brady, they have earned the status of Elite QB by being the best year in and year out.

Right now and I expect some will disagree but I think it is Brady, Romo and then Manning.

Brady has 13 TD passes and avg 279 a game, Romo has 11 TD passes and 299 yards a game and Manning with 8 TD 266 a game.
