Romo Is The Future Enough Said!

You guys are over critical on Romos 3 INts...This is basically hist first time out...Parcells threw himout to the wolves on National T/V and he did just fine....

Somehow "3 INTs" and "he did just fine" don't quite mesh together. he showed flashes, and reasons to maybe have some hope. But he did not "do just fine." He did garbage, and threw our chance to win away. But he did show a few things that we can be hopeful about.

Stop the madness!...The future is here and now!.

Bledsoe gives us some good games against terrible teams and then he gives us absolutely nothing against decent teams.

With Romo Atleast we have a shot!...

Did just fine? :lmao2:

Have a shot at what? a top 10 pick?

I saw some things I liked. He spread the ball around, can move in and out of the pocket to set up throws, makes quick decisions, scans the field and occasionally has some backyard magic to him.

We consistently moved the ball with him behind center. That, I liked.

Now, with that said, we did all that with a guy that the defense wasn't preparing for. Will he even show those positives against a team that is preparing for his tendencies?

Obviously, the huge negative is the improvisation, as Parcells said. Occasionally, he hits on those plays. Hence the "backyard magic" comment. But when he doesn't, boy oh boy.

I love his ability to make things happen that aren't there (from what he's shown in limited, limited action). Can he harness that ability though and cut out the mistakes without completely removing his ability to make plays that aren't necessarily there?

He might be the future, but we're most likely going to suffer in the present.

We were already suffering. This team was going nowhere with Bledsoe this year.

I'm glad you are excited about the Cowboys having a Qb that will be 27 years old and hasn't had as much success in the NFL as Quincy Carter, Danny Wuerful, or Gino Torretta.
Besides Wuerfel he has been in the league longer. Lets see how old was Brunell when he ended up in Jacksonville, how old was Hassleback when he was crowned the starter in Seattle, how old was warner when he lit the NFL on fire, How old was Brad Johnson when he came over from NFLE, How old was Delhomme when Carolina took a flier on him?

I'm not defending Romo tonight, but Romo wasn't alone in losing. Lots of folks looked bad out there. They beat us like a rented mule and that's the truth.

Exactly. We were completely outclassed.

but that's not what this thread is about. ;)

Someone's trying to sell me that Romo did just fine - and that's a hill of beans. :D

You are wrong!. Drew Bledsoe lost the game in the first half. Putting Romo in was the only bright side to this loss. He didnt just show flashes..he showed some REAAAAL TALENT.

Is that why we went from beinig down 5 to being blown off the field under romo?

yeah, bledsoe LOST THE GAME.

I liken it to a slow death.

Ocassional signs of hope and you hang on each week...but ultimately, you miss the playoffs.

I seriously hope this is sarcasm

Oh. I'm wrong.

OK then.

I must have imagined the INT in our end coming out of the half (which was apparently irrelevant, as Bledsoe had already lost the game - which begs the question, why did we come back out? I dunno.....) which the Giants promptly turned into a TD - the INT he tossed straight to a DT for no reason at all, and the pick 6 to end all hope.

I have a bizarre imagination. Maybe I'm a masochist.

Did you happen to watch Eli his first couple of years?

Sometimes you have no choice but to take some lumps as you move into a new era. That is exactly where this team is right now.

Romo showed enough to give any objective observer a reason to be cautiously optomistic about his future.

I say that as a former Hensonite who never wanted our future placed in the hands of an former UFA QB. But the kid has shown he has talent.

Oh, make no mistake about it.

Bledsoe would have absolutely kept us in this game. We'd have likely been down 3-to-7 points driving for the tying or go-ahead score late in the fourth.

....only to be intercepted.

Haven't we seen that before, time and time again? Hell, we should already be used to what Romo did tonight. At least he has the "youth" excuse.

Yeah, I agree. The Kurt Warners and Drew Bledsoes are only gonna take you so far. They may win more games than a first-year starter, but they're not going to be leading you to postseason glory.

Might as well bite the bullet now and hope and pray.

I'm just glad I got to see romo in action. I think it was the right move.

everyone has their own opinion...If PArcells decides to keep him as our starter, then I'm all for it.

Dale, I agree. With Bledsoe, we get a steady, sometime spectacular (sometimes boneheaded), brand of play. Romo is definitely the gamble with a possible greater upside. I guess this is where we see the gambling side of Parcells.

The chances of making the playoffs and having success in the playoffs THIS YEAR was greater with Bledsoe. Do we still have a chance? Maybe. But it's going to be VERY difficult to make the playoffs with a first-time starter at quarterback for the final 10 games, if that's the case. If he goes even 6-4 as a starter, that will be quite an accomplishment, and that might not even get us in.

Or the desperation side?

Parcells looked exahusted tonight. Almost as if he were tossing in the towel.

Yes I saw him look decent/mediocre his first season and win a division title in his second, and in first place right now. I also remember he was the #1 pick in the draft not a guy every team in the draft passed on 7 times

I have no problems with him starting, Bledsoe pissed me off as well. But the people trying to say he "played well" or looked good etc need to get real.

Romo showed enough to give any objective observer a reason to be cautiously optomistic about his future.

If you say so, I seen nothing worth optimism. I seen someone who would tease with a good play or 2 and then destroy hope with some boneheaded plays. The same boneheaded things parcells has been syaing he does for years now

He has shown me (so far) that he is a placeholder until the next draft
