That's my point, I would have significantly outbid any network that made him an offer. Ever since last year, I believed that played a much bigger role in Daks success than anyone has ever admitted to.

They were going to release him. You don't cut his massive salary as a player, then hire him to a fraction of that salary as a coach.

Great modern players never coach. Romo has $150 million. He's not signing up for 90 hours a week with two young boys.

I watched the game pretty much only because Romo was calling it because I hate the Patriots. I think on occasion he talks to much, be he is smart, articulate and really knows the game. His chemistry with Natz is super. He also has great enthusiasm for the game. I thought Simms talked down sometimes and sounded like a know it all. Romo is much better then Sim's is and you can also tell he puts in some times in prep for the game. Good gig for him. Glad he is happy and not being beat into the dust.

Tony is the announcer that knows his stuff, but also has that quality like you are watching a game with a buddy...he is very enthusiastic and makes you want to watch him - I love when he gets excited and tells the players where to go..."get over there, go!"

Listening to Tony Romo call the last drive last night explains why he had so many 4th quarter comebacks during his career.

Brilliant analysis. Called every moment perfectly.

He's better in the booth at this than anybody I've ever heard.

yep, he calls the play and route before it is sent in from the coach

Yeah, I noticed that, too, E. Nantz is clearly enjoying himself with Romo. Asking him what the next play will be. Romo even jokingly asked Natnz what the next play would be and Nantz laughed and deferred to Tony.

They already have superb chemistry.

For sure. Their chemistry is about as good as it gets. They're both avid golf junkies and have been good friends for some time now. I've heard that's where their simpatico all got started. Romo really appears to have taken to his new gig like a duck to water. Best football commentator around if you were to ask me (fair to say I might be justifiably biased in my assessment.) Nevertheless, he's delightfully unique, imho. ;)

Are you saying Romo was not a Super bowl caliber QB?
really?

And in typical Cowboy fan fashion, looking at the shiny object skill guys and not the trenches.

Brees and Rodgers have won exactly 1 SB each.
Are you saying they weren't Super Bowl caliber QBs all the rest of their careers?

Anyway, that Brees offense was once in a decade type stuff, and even then, the defense excelled at takeovers. They still could've easily lost to the Vikings in the semis that year.

It all has to go right.
fixed

Tom Brady needs one first down, and you're beat. You can either kick it deep and try to get that mandatory stop, or you can onside kick and get it right now, or if you don't, still have a chance to get that one mandatory stop.

The no-brainer is to onside right there.

They were in FG range upon recovery of the onside. So you essentially make it so that even if you get a stop you need a TD now in the same amount of time.
