I think too many fans expect their former player announcers to be “pro Cowboys” instead of being professional enough to be honest in their critique. If any team makes a great play they should say it and if any team makes a bad play say it as well.
If a fan wants to hear cheerleader points of view, listen to the Cowboys radio broadcast. And those guys are even more balanced than many home team announcers. The Philly broadcasters are so cheerleader-ish, it’s hilarious.
For years I’ve seen some Cowboys fans blast Troy Aikman for being “anti-Cowboys” which is completely unfair . Troy is a consummate professional. He tells it like he sees it, just as he did in his glory days as Cowboys QB. He had no problem calling out teammates who didn’t meet team standards.
Broadcasters are supposed to first be professional. I think Romo and Aikman do a good job, although Troy is way better IMO.
