What QB played himself to the bench?

U forgot one. ;)

Correction...which QB was a victim of Parcells desperation to save his overrated career and not having any semblance of an offensive line in front of him?

Knee jerk reactions are common in this league.....but when you bench a 14 year veteran for an unknown commodity you bench your season....just ask Mike Shanahan and Denver about this as well.

Funny how the decision worked. Dallas got to the playoffs. That would not have happened with Drew at the helm.

The decision was hardly knew jerk. There was a reason that Romo got to play an entire pre-season game and then received extensive playing time in the rest of the games. The change was in progress.

Denver didn't save their season, they may have secured their future. They probably weren't going to get to the playoffs or past the wildcard round with Plummer as the QB. Plummer is just not the guy to get to the next level and win it all. Neither is Drew.

Why bury a guy who is in his 1st season as a starter? Bledsoe was not being able to do much for this team this year. Romo helped give this team a spark and helped us with 5 out of 6 games when he took over which helped us get to the playoffs. I don't know anyone who claims Romo to be a Hall Of Fame QB at this stage of his career but his play has earned him some respect by many fans and hope for the future. Bledsoe did not represent the future of the Cowboys he was a stop gap until we could find a QB to lead this team. For now the future is Romo and it will be up to him to go out and show progress in his game just like you would expect from any QB.

Exactly. Romo may not pan out. There is room to doubt he will be the next successful Dallas QB. It is clear that Bledsoe is not capable of leading a team to the Superbowl at this point in his career.

Because many fans around here think that every player we draft/sign should be an All-Pro right out of the box and for years to come...

Be serious....we play in a conference in which teams that finished 7-9 had legit superbowl aspirations. If we were in the AFC we wouldn't have been any better than a 5-11 team.

We all sit here and adamently say 'we wouldn't have been in the playoffs with Bledsoe' and that's simply not a true statement. In 22 games as the Cowboys starting QB there was only ONE game (@ was 2006) we had no chance of winning...the FACTS speak for themself.

I never said that I'm burying Romo completely....but you have to be concerned that our window was open and slammed shut by Parcells decision to bench Bledsoe this season. There was no urgency to play Romo, he could have sat this year and played next season as was likely the original plan. Bledsoe was the better QB in the preseason and won his job fair and square.

I lowered my expectations when Romo was put in the lineup because I'm a realistic fan and knew there would be bumps in the road...I just didn't imagine the bumps would be as big as they were....we were in control of our own destiny: A division title and first round by, and know matter what way the spin doctors on this board try to play it......we lost two key HOME games down the stretch because of Romo: NO and PHILLY

It seems that way. For me where a guy is drafted is not important. What is important is what a player does once he gets an opportunity to play. Romo has earned my respect by going out and doing his job quietly until the opportunity came and once he was given the chance he has made the most of it and I have no doubt he will be our starting QB next season and hopefully for years to come. After all I see no reason to think he will not improve

Then throw a fact out there. The fact is Bledsoe is not a good QB right now. Watch him play. He looks lost. He is getting older, not better.

I like Bledsoe but he was unable to with stand the constant pass rushes and the fact is Romo was able to make some big plays to win games that Drew would not have been able to pull off. Bill put Romo in because he felt Romo gave us the best chance to win and Bill was right and now it is Romo team. I would hope that our fans could rally behind that but evidently personal agenda seem to be the order of the day for you. As I said at Bledsoe age he did not represent the future of this club, you do not build a team around a QB of Bledsoe age. Drew was a stop gap for us and while I loved having him here I always understood what his role was.

With Romo we made the playoffs

With Bledsoe we would have a top 10 pick

Well, both of those don't sound too bad.

So, if we started Romo the first half and started Bledsoe the second half, we'd be in the playoffs and then have a top 10 pick! Do it!

In games started and finished by Tony Romo this season, the Cowboys won 54% of their games.

In games started and finished by Drew Bledsoe this season, the Cowboys won 60% of their games.

So please stop with the Tony Romo saved the season BS.

Nice stats!! LOL, So your saying that we should have stayed with Bledsoe and we would have won 6% more of our games this year..........

Even if you put Bledsoe behind an oline of hof'ers he would still get sacked or throw an int.

Your blaming those two losses on Romo??? Did Romo play defense all of a sudden? Romo was playing catch up in both of those games. He had to take chances to try and get the team back into contention. Do you honestly believe that Bledsoe would have won those games as badly as our defense played?

We were a 500 ball club when BP made the move to Romo. With Romo at the helm we were 8-4 at one point and it should have been 9-3 if not for the blocked field goal at Washington. I admit his play leveled off the last few games, but so did our defense.

Brilliant stuff percy.

It's unfortunate that your fantastic research is wasted in this garbage thread, but if there was ever a post that deserved it's own thread, that's it. Unbelievable change in the defense. But that's probably due to Bledsoe's benching.

It was due to the Bledsoe benching! Didn't you know that Bledsoe made the defense play better? (how he did that, I have no freaking clue)...but, that's what I hear...!
