I'm saying Bledsoe would have won the same games as Romo and probably more than Romo. I'm saying if Bledsoe had been in, Romo would not have muffed the hold.
Speculation. Unproveable.
Look, the excitement with Romo was that he wouldn't make the bone headed plays Bledsoe made, but in reality Bledsoe is better. Yeah, he can't move like Romo, but he has a better arm.
No, that was not the excitement with Romo.
The official excitement was over the fact the Cowboys had finally decided the future is now instead of letting the past be now.
Bledsoe is past his prime. And because he had reached his ceiling, his mistakes were unforgiveable because he he wasn't going to change.
Most expected Romo to make mistakes - even Jerry Jones hinted that if we went with Romo the season would be awash.
But then Romo started to exceed expectations and renewed hope in Dallas making the playoffs.
Well, his mistakes started to show up (with the help of the mistakes on defense), but those were to be expected since he was a first-year starter.
The bottom line on the Bledsoe-sit/Romo-start controversy is that one (Bledsoe) had reached his ceiling and had accomplished all he was going to accomplish wherease the other (Romo) was young and needed experience and had a higher ceiling.
I don't know why Bledsoe imploded like he did and don't know if he will even play this year, (2007) but I think he would have proven himself had he the chance. Now we will never know...
Well, the Jacksonville, NY Giants, Philadelphia games say otherwise.
