Our offense has still been one of top offenses in the NFL, and that's even discounting all the turnovers/scoring from defense. The offense has also suffered injuries to Romo, Murray, Austin, and Waters this year, so I guess if we're using excuses I'll use that.
As for the Defense, there's no reason our passing defense should be as bad as it is. You think teams haven't swapped schemes before or had key injuries? Other defenses have had the same problems as us before, but they didn't end up setting passing defense records like we have. So what gives? And let's not act like the defense isn't paid just as much as the offense to do it's job. We have 50 million in salary cap tied up in our defense, yet they've performed pretty crappy for the most part of this year.
However you wasn't to slice it, our performance from defense has been inexcusable.
The switch to a 4-3 has alot to do with that especially when this team lost the one player (Ratliff) they were counting on when he took his ball and went home. This defense is fixable but lets not forget this is the new NFL where all offenses are getting the benefit of the doubt. I just think our offense has way to many 3 and outs at critical times. Lets just hope this team gains a little more confidence with the 4-3 over the next couple of games. Making offensive and defensive comparisons is silly. This D is learning a new scheme with some big holes in the defensive line and backfield. The offense has been together for quite a while and the oline is much improved. Either way this teams record since 2009 against winning teams is terrible. Luckily we play a weak schedule down the stretch and should finish at least 9-7.
