Romo stunk yesterday

I was of the opinion we are coming along but the results aren't there.

Not just the 4-4 record and same ol' blowing games thingy.

The roster is weak. None of our 3 backup RBs have done anything much and the main guy can't stay on the field.
We were thought to have great WR depth. We are down to maybe 3 good WRs if you count The Beas.
We were told the TE position would be a huge asset in the passing game. It's still only witten and his influence is down as well.
The Oline showed some hope but Waters is done and Leary has regressed. 3 out of 5 ain't bad I guess.
That's just the offense, do I need to point out the holes in the worst-ever defense?

The one area we have clearly improved is special teams. That's good. Other than that nothing is coming along nicely.

You and I never agree.. but I can agree with everything you said above. You may want to add that our defense is getting much better at takeaways. Other than that, I see the same .500 team out there, just with a few different pieces.

I didn't say you were wrong. I said I don't agree.

And I didn't say you said that. Obviously you don't want to point out the specific areas cool.

Shoulda known better to engage you in convo to begin with.

My bad.

Carry on

Yes, "IF" we can win 10 games. Currently we are sitting at .500 and have only beaten losing teams. I agree, if we can get to 10 wins, that is progress, but that is a big "IF" at this point.

I don't think it's that big of an If. Be that as it may, the first time I said this, you disagreed. See your earlier post for yourself. Now, you agree.

That's good.

All of that is nothing more than hope. Waters will then be 37 1/2 years old. Sure he has been terrific but as people age they start having injuries or lose their ability. Not sure how much he will even have left. I certainly wouldn't count on him. Leary has chronic knee problems, no telling how long we have him for. Not something to get excited about.. IMO anyway.

37 is not all that old for an OL. It's not young, by any means, but it's not unheard of and I do believe he will come back to play for us. Leary's knee will eventually be a problem but not next year or even the year after that IMO.

I would quote the rest of your post but I think you are being overly optimistic. I see the same problems year in and year out with this team. Currently we are nothing more than a .500 team and I don't see anything changing that. The one thing I can honestly say I am happy about right now is the turnovers our team is getting, but with that said, we are still giving up more points than any other team in the NFL, so it feels like a wash. I can't say I see a future team here that will be above .500.

Quote what you like, it doesn't really matter. I do believe we will be better then a .500 team. Time will tell.

I like you ABQ... but will just respectfully disagree with you. You do know if I'm wrong I will admit it though.

That's fine. We will see what the future holds.

And I didn't say you said that. Obviously you don't want to point out the specific areas cool.

My bad. I got you on ignore now won't happen again

Carry on

No, you asked me, what you were wrong about. I answered the question. I didn't say you were wrong. I said I didn't agree with you. There is a difference between those two things.

As for knowing better, yes. I guess you should have. It's a learning process I suppose.

i don't know if Romo stunk more than the Callahan game plan.
Face it, when the ball does not go to Dez until late in the 2nd quarter, there is something wrong.
For some reason (double coverage?) the ball was not going to Dez, and that stunk.
Romo had a dismal day but methink it was the game plan and not the QB.

Just to throw this out there, it's possible Romo got hurt from one of the shots he took from Fairley.

Shocked if he didn't. It looked like they dropped a Coke machine on him!

On another note:
Earlier in this thread they were discussing us maybe going 10-6, .. and that being an improvement.
Did we improve or did the teams that we play twice a year regress?
It is possible that our two extra wins over our last two 8-8 seasons came because our main competition got worse.
I say this because we still aren't very good.

That is a very valid point. People seem to judge everything off your W-L record but that doesn't always tell the whole story.

What part of move on don't you get? Even when I take responsibility and withdraw fron the discussion you act like a dbag about it.

I tried to put you on ignore but apparently its nit possible since you're a mod. Which is a joke. So please don't reply to me anymore and I'll do the same. Sometimes I respond to a post without realizing its a jerk I previously planned to never talk with. Again my bad

I don't think we can know this until the end of the season but yes, I think it's an improvement. In previous years, I feel as if we played down to our talent. This year, I think we are playing with the talent we have, particularly on the Defensive side of the ball.

Your point is a good one and worthy of consideration but I just don't get the feeling that we are playing down to our competition, the way we have in years past. I feel as if we have ligit reasons as to why we are struggling defensively. Last year, we had injuries on the defensive side of the ball as well but we continued to, IMO, play poorly offensively on top of that. Way to many TOs and not enough takeaways. Way to many penalties and just poor football in general IMO. This year, I feel as if we are taking care of the football better, our Redzone is better, we don't seem to be having the same kinds of penalties on every play and most importantly, I think we've played the tougher part of our season in the 1st half. I think the second half of our season will be easier because the schedule is easier.

While I do believe that Romo has made some mistakes this year, I think his play is so much better this year and I honestly believe that his play is a big part of the difference from this year to last. I am encouraged, perhaps falsely. That will be proven, one way or the other.

That's just my opinion.

Yeah, I'm putting my money on falsely.:D

Romo has Input on the game plan as well as the plays that are called. That was made clear before the season started.

Then Romo shares the blame for the lousy game plan we see so often. With the exception of the Broncos game, that is.

LOL....

Fair enough. I will admit that my opinion on this is no more educated or insightful then the next guys. I just see things in a certain way and I have more faith in this club then I have in any of the previous others of the last 3 or 4 years.

I'm sure there will be no shortage of posters handing out crow for me if I am proven wrong. That's part of the beauty of being a part of this board.

;-)

Before the Detroit game, .. I was telling myself that if we can win this game, .. against a good team on the road, which would make three wins in a row, I would/could start to believe thay maybe I was starting to see this team turning some kind of mythical corner.

Maybe all of the changes/process that we have been told were happening over the past couple of years were actually beginning to come to fruition and the Cowboys would begin to make some long awaited noise. A win Sunday and a possible win over the Vikes would have put us at 6-3 with a 4 game winning streak.

And then to see all of that go down the tubes in such a similar fashion, that we all have grown tired of seeing, .. I think that is where all of my frustrations are coming from.

I think that Murray out of the lineup is a much bigger issue then a lot of folks might have thought. To me, he is an important part of the offense and he's missed. Waters is going to be a big deal as well. Hopefully, we can overcome but we'll see.

By the way, your english/language skills have improved dramatically of late. It is some what of a treat for me.

;-) LOL

Certainly understandable. Hard to fault any fan for this kind of outlook.

I won't be handing out any crow personally and I hope you are right. I have given up on Romo and I know that isn't a popular opinion, but I have just seen enough of him to know he isn't the answer here.. call it bad luck, bad fit, bad coaching, or whatever. I know you think he is playing much better but I think they have just dialed him back enough to where he is playing overly cautious and that causes losses as well. Sure, his stats "might" look better on the INT side and completion % but that doesn't tell the whole story. Anyway, here's to you being right! (I need a beer emoticon).

My goodness... I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I considered the Lions a decent team unlike the Giants, Eagles, Rams, and Commanders and felt if we beat them we would be on a 4 game win streak heading into the Saints game. I thought our team would be really motivated heading into NO with a 6-3 record and there was a chance we could beat them. All of that quickly got dashed though. I can't say I was surprised at the outcome.. I was just really hoping it would go the other way. I even planned on buying tickets to the Chicago game later in the season to go watch the Cowboys there with a friend. All of that hope was lost though.

I live to provide you with treats. My language skills are nothing to make fun of, mister. I half good days and I half bad days. Make the rest of my day a good one and just agree with ever thing I write.

As to Murray I agree but there are rumors of Jerra wanting McFadden from the Raiders before the trade deadline end.
