OK, so I'm talking with a friend (a Jets fan, btw) about the upcoming season. The convo turns to Romo. He thinks the Cowboys would be better off with Johnson starting. After some heated debate, I ended up making a $50 bet that Romo would finish with a top 7 QB rating at seasons end.

Whadda ya think my chances are?

(Disregard the fact that my friend is obviously an idiot to think Johnson would serve the Cowboys better this season.)

If he is that stupid, should have gotten the bet to be Top 7 in the NFC.. that's a lock!

Tell your buddy I'd like to make a wager with him, too. Mama needs another jersey.

:D

He ranked second or third last season. The vertical passing game doesn't generally help a QBs rating but 7th would actually be a decrease in production over last season.

Im really looking forward to see how he improves over last year.

I also see this offense using the backs out of the backfield more, so maybe this will offset the vertical game as far as percentages go.

looks like someone hit the Dope Pile, before the DEA found it behind their building

gawd

That is true and apparently there are more short and intermediate routes put in to take advantage of Owens RAC ability. Now lets just hope he doesnt drop those.

Can I get in on this bet as well? I'd like to raise the stakes, though.

Statistically, you'll probably have the following quarterbacks above him, in no particular order: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, and perhaps Marc Bulger.

I think it's a safe bet. QB Rating isn't the best barometer though (where QB's get rewarded for a low TD-INT ratio even if they take few chances, lose games and don't throw many TDs). I'd have used some combination of passing yards + TDs.

Its a pretty good bet. His QBR was really high last year, and even if that levels off a bit, it should still be good enough for top 7.

A lot depends on Redball's performance as OC, the health of the WRs, Flozell coming back healthy, etc. But Romo's gonna do just fine.

Thanks all. I had the feeling that maybe I got a bit riled up and offered a tough bet for me.

Hopefully you win it.

I made a bet last year, after the football season ended, with a friend of mine who is a Bears fan, that we'd have a better record than they would for this upcoming season. The winner gets an open tab when we go to the bars.

I was drunk when I made the bet.

Oh well. Live and learn.

You think that is bad. I know a Commander fan who made a bet with one of my friends ( Cowboy Fan ) over Jersey wearing.

The bet was that Romo would have a better passer rating than Campbell.

The rest of the league really believes that Romo was a flash in the pan I think, just first year luck or something. One of my friends who is a Commander fan was talking about Fantasy football and I was saying that I would consider taking Romo very early because stat wise I thought he could be in the top 3-5 and he comes back with, " or he could be near the bottom"

No respect at all!!!!

Well, its not unexpeced that they wouldn't believe in Romo.

Grossman started out on fire, then cooled off. People who only watched a couple of games that Romo started could look at the numbers and conclude that Romo did the same thing.

Plus, the media shoved Romo down their throats when he started out hot. So they probably are biased against him anyway.

And they are not Cowboy fans; so they aren't going to think that Romo is the answer to begin with, anyway.

Same thing up here in Delaware...All these Philly fans seem to think Romo is a joke. I can't wait for them to eat their words.

I would have bet that guy that Romo beats Pennington in yards, TDS, and wins. In my book Romo starts on at least 25 other rosters in the NFL.

Romo was rated the 5th best QB (QB rating) even with his MONUMENTAL SUPER GALACTIC melt down last year. I don't think the media knew that.
