Was on the Lebatard show yesterday and said he would go for a conditional fourth round pick with an escalator to a third if the new team makes the playoffs. Said comp would be lower because Jones would let him choose his team.
It will always piss me off the Damn eagles got a 1st for Sam Bradford. A comp 4th for Romo? Smh.

Sounds about right. Some will feel that the team should receive higher compensation but the mutual goals of moving away from Romo's contract and permanently going in a different direction at the quarterback position will be achieved without greater difficulty. The transition for both the teams involved and Romo should be made as seamless as possible.

I think it could be higher than that but the talk of first round picks was poppycock.

Desperate teams (Minny QB goes down right as the season is about to begin and they feel they have a playoff caliber team) perform desperate acts. I really want to see Minny win out to lessen the worth of that pick.

I'd rather the season finish before having our off season trade plans for Romo set in stone. That's all. I agree that Romo has earned to choose his next destination if that's the case and Dak rebounds, etc.
heh - most rational people would but we have a lot of maddens out there.

The Cowboys need to act as if they plan to keep Romo for 2017. That will improve his trade value.

In reality, keeping Romo at 14M would be silly. They could put that towards a free agent DE or WR..

I think it will be a conditional pick as well.

@zrinkill doesn't believe it but I think it's a good bet that if he gets traded then it will be for a conditional pick because that is what was done with Favre.

I'd rather keep him and let them compete in the off-season if that's the case.

That would be a bad move we have to have the QB position settled entering camp, we don't need any distractions/controversy entering the season. Romo isn't going to be happy having to compete for a job he never lost on the field and won't be happy as the backup. With his age and health issues it's time to move on from him.

Well yes this could all change before the season is over, but I'm guessing Schefter has put some inquiries out there on this. Just thought it would be interesting to share his take.

Oh no, appreciate the info definitely. I was just forecasting myself tbh.
