Romo versus Bledsoe

By all rights, Romo should be ahead of Henson. It's his third year in the same system and small school or not, you have to show some signs of progression in your third year if you expect to elevate yourself to the #1 position.

I don't think Romo will push Bledsoe for the starter's spot though. It's not impossible, but it's unlikely. He would have to do show something to earn Parcells' trust before he would be allowed to start unless Bledsoe goes down.

I'm pulling for him too, because what could be on speed dial is scary.

Has Blake been released from Philly, btw? Huard from KC? (as an example)

We won't have to worry about something as ancient as Chris Chandler, (not after Vinnie) but ANY vet QB who has seen several (or a hundred) system and doesn't require milk feeding could be on that dial.

If anyone scoffs and says 'Tuna only trusts his guys and won't sign someone he has no history with', I think they are mistaken. Bill's just run out of those.

I recall Tuna once sounding off on why Scott Zolak was an excellent back up... we know what he's doing these days, Nors, but anything similar any bit younger could be on that dial.

It's up to YOUR boy to make sure that Bill doesn't have to dial up 1-800-hasbeen quarterback.

Spot on - My boy has the sword - it could cut either way. My money is on him.....

He went last season with these two. I'll give my other Parcells Ace card for the Dallas fans with not a lot of history or Verse. He hates QB controversies. His biggest mistake last year was moving Henson to #2 mid season. That put the Dallas fans on VT - Every incomplete or interception was a side to the inmates to "play Henson now"...... Dallas fans booed VT out of hand last season at HOME. Henson start to me was a mental jab at JJ - and a quick hook.

That all said if he names Henson #2 all the hysteria starts all over if Drew has a bad day etc. Not much clamor for "ROMO"

Henson's hype is bigger than his performance. Romo outplaying him and the better back up all the way around.

But yes, Its on Romo. BUT WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT ROMO. RIGHT NOW HE'S GRINNIN AND SAYING BRING IT!

You're right.

Apparently Drew ISN'T ready, and tho I doubt we ever hear Bill referring to Henson as a "double A player", the sooner the media and fanbase accepts DH as a longer term project, the sooner Bill can get the mediots and boo birds off his back re Henson.

IF, big IF, Drew cannot take the back up spot, it's for the good of all around he be listed as what he is - 3rd on the depth chart, and considered a valuable developmental project....good for all........including for Drew himself.

There won't be the clamour for Tony there would be for DH first time Bledsoe throws into the teeth of a db. :D

If Romo plays like his numbers from the scrimmage indicate then I'll have no problem with him being the #2 guy. But he has to be consistant. I won't count him out, but I can see why we are being patient to an extent, but I do question if any urgency is really needed or if I am overreacting.

I just want someone capable. And if Romo plays like he practices, we may very well have a solid #2. That can't be said for Henson at this point.

Again, it was a scrimmage after 1 week of camp before the first preseason game of the year. Geez.

This is hilarious. 1 week of practice and 1 team scrimmage and people are deciding players careers AND I assume just about everybody has not actually seen the practices and just going on a few tidbit comments of others. Please.

BP will stick with Bledsoe more than even VT last year. Romo and DH - both stay. Why the extension for Romo if he's out the door? Was any guaranteed? It was enough to say Romo is staying around. DH is going nowhere at least through his first 4 seasons. Too much potential and too little money invested. Something real dramatic in Romo or DH's play has to happen to change things. And Tucker not blocking and hindering a true evaluation of DH and only 1 week does not mean a decision can be made on DH yet. Give it time.

Bledsoe I'd say is a lock to start. But Romo has an opening if he can light it up in preseason games. Say he has a few 15-19 200 yard games and moves the ball and scores points.

Does Parcells start him if Bledsoe is so/so?
I would be wonderfully surprised if Romo took Bledsoe's starting spot, but the realist in me says let's hope Romo is adequate for number 2.

It's kinda hard to figure out BP.Just when I think he'll do one thing,he does the complete opposite.More than likely,it's Bledsoe all year.

where have you read anything about Romo distancing himself from anyone? I
I'm real curious, because I'd like to see it

I read his stats from last night but also read he was very underwhelming...he had one ball picked clean and two others that should have been picked...his td was a dink pass to a RB that ran the 15-20 yds to the endzone on his own

I also listened to Nick Eatman yesterday suggest if an outside QB is brought in to backup Bledsoe that Romo will probably be shown the door, and not Henson

that said, as I said in another thread I think Henson may have arm troubles and could end up on IR...you dont go from throwing the way he was to whats being reported now w/o something going on physically

David

I don't think it's really a case of Romo distancing himself, but rather Henson falling further and further behind.

I love Romo, Bledsoe is definately an upgrade over testaverde. Henson I thought would make out much better then he has. Didn't he split time with Brady at Michigan?
