You still don't get it, and you still just keep repeating the word choke because now you're stuck in this encompassing, over-generalized meaning which means to lose. It's like saying that man is an animal. Yeah. But so is a bear, and a cat, and a fish.

You know why they call it "choking" right? It's because it's a hyperbolic reference to physical choking, i.e., you have a hard time breathing because you become anxious, which results in weakness, fear, shaking, losing confidence, etc., and all of the other physical symptoms that manifest from such a mental state, that you can't perform.
They call it choir because they choke. But since you have an issue with the word come up with another word for when a player plays at a high level but plays below expectations in big games and has a 2-4 playoff record with only 6 appearances throughout his whole career….what’s a word for that?

Dak - Playoff perennial loser

Romo - Game Sealing Interception King - Turnover prone... you could probably say he was clutch at giving the other teams turnovers at the end of the game

Why are you guys so infatuated with both of these losers?
How many more quarterbacks have to come through here before you realize what the bigger issue is?

Clearly i'm out of my mind making this comment (there I said it for you, be nice). Either way, we know what Romo brought to the game, he was able to juke a pass rusher like no one else. Dak is a freight train. Neither player was/is known for being clutch. Who ya got, this should be easy!!?

Romo not being clutch is just a carry over from early in his career when he was the only playmaker on the team.

Romo put it all together around 2013. His game genuinely hit a new level right before injuries basically took him out of the game.

I think that Romo could have won a Super Bowl, but by 2016, I also don't think he could take a single hit from a defensive end either. He'd been knocked out of the last 3 games he had tried to play.

Who choked besides Dak?

underachieve noun

Now, I have no clue why the next thing I mention happened. It is just pure coincidence I guess.

Practically every term in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary has word usage examples under the sub-header, Recent Examples on the Web. Each term's examples come with this following disclaimer: These examples are programmatically compiled from various online sources to illustrate current usage of the word 'underachiever.' Any opinions expressed in the examples do not represent those of Merriam-Webster or its editors. Send us feedback about these examples.

There are eight examples outlined on the term's webpage. Three examples are visible on the page. Five examples are hidden. The remaining hidden examples can be viewed by clicking See More located directly below the third example shown.

I am not even going to post the eighth example here. Any member curious why I will not, should click the merriam-webster link at the top of my comment... and read that last particular example of the term underachiever for themselves.

I could not make this up if I tried.

It doesn't matter who you pick if you get the same playoff results. To me they've been on the same career trajectory so it's a coin flip.

Is this like the millionth post of Romo vs Prescot???????? Clutch???????? There was something about Romo when it came to big games, you always felt he was going to give the Cowboys a chance. That can't be said about Prescot, every time he drops back to pass in a big game your attention immediately goes to where he's throwing the ball and what defender is in the neighborhood to pick it.
Yeah those win or go home games against the Eagles twice, Giants twice and Washington once. I thought Romo was Brady in those games.

Honestly, I would take both. Use both interchangeably and keep opposing defenses guessing.

Romo is the more gifted passer, was more clutch overall (the entire body of work), and could make defenders miss.
