Uh...did I say it doesn't matter? It matters for guys who are trying to make the team as backups. But to say Romo should be starting because he played well against a bunch of backups for Seattle who played in place of injured players, what does that tell you? Yes Romo played well. But who cares. If Henson started, he would have played well also. It's not like Seattle was bringing the heat or that their defense resembled the '85 Bears.

I love the argument that pre-season doesn't matter. Should we just go off hunches for non-veteran players? Perhaps 11-on-11 drills without pads is a better judge of talent.

Every time someone starts a silly backup QB argument,
A cute fuzzy kitten dies...
Please stop the insanity and save the kittens

amen

And people please get real, Bledsoe is the starter for the whole year, except for maybe injury and complete meltdown by this team. Which neither seem likely. Bledsoe is the guy, support your local sheriff.

I'm not denying Romo did well, heck he did awesome, but please calm down he is not going to start and for the teams sake I hope he doesn't. Its good to know we have a possible future option and backup option.

I thought Seneca Wallace played well too. So he should be starting over Hasselbeck?

Yeah, ok. You just went through 5-6 posts claiming that pre-season didn't matter.

What on earth are you supposed to judge talent by? If you completely discredit preseason and training camp, what could you possibly judge talent by? I'd love to see you tell a coach that he has to evaluate his team and pick his starters without training camp or preseason.

So, by your logic, Romo goes in and lights it up this week, Bledsoe plays a series and looks like crap.

YEP, ROMO SHOULD START, PRESEASON IS WHERE YOU JUDGE TALENT RARR RARR RARRR ROBBLE ROBBLE.

Give me a break. The coaches know what's up, and when the regular season starts you will see that it will take injury to remove Bledsoe from the lineup. And the only reason Romo trots out there is because we have jack crap else at backup QB.

Like I said before, preseason is meaningless. the list of good preseason performances by middling and downright awful players is a long one. Just because a guy has ONE GOOD GAME doesnt mean squat. Now, if he continues to keep having good preseason games maybe we are on to something. But since we don't have that yet, i'm going to judge the guy by what he's done so far which is NOTHING and say he's got a LONG way to go. I'm sure the coaches realize this too. If Romo is so awesome, then why is Bledsoe even here? Why not just demote him and get it over with? There's a reason why Romo holds a clipboard, and will be continuing to do so come the start of the regular season.

At best we got a Jason Garrett on our hands.

We finally look decent on both sides of the ball and win our opening pre-season game and yet we still get all of this silly stuff.

Can't we all just get along!??! I mean, it is football, a sport that promotes peace and happiness! Why can't people interpret the 'true' meaning of football? ;)

even tho its preseason, you have to admit i doubt bledsoe would come out of that game unsacked.

Thats one thing i noticed when watching Romo, he has good pocket presence

If Droooo Henson did what Romo did, we would have a board wide mutiny on our hands.

I don't know that Romo is ready to take the job from Bledsoe...but he is not far from it. He played a smart game and took what he could get out of each snap. His incompletions were mostly drops by the receivers; I did not see him throw an uncatchable ball except when he threw it away intentionally. He ran when he couldn't make a play and got something positive and he threw the ball away when he needed to. He was in command of the huddle and in command at the line of scrimmage.

Had Bledsoe taken the same snaps with the same supporting cast and against the same opposing players we would have had at least 3 sacks...probably more. I'm liking the way Romo was escaping the rush without looking like he was under pressure. He sensed what was coming and simply moved away from it and kept his focus.

As for his gunslinger mentality; he still has it but it is one of the things I like about him. But even with that mentality he did not make any desperate throws or bad decisions. Jerry Jones wants him to be the cold, calculating, precision machine that Troy Aikman was. But that is just not who Tony is; Tony is more like Roger Staubach in his attitude and more freewheeling style of play. And Please, No, I'm not comparing them in any way other than attitude.

I could not have asked for more from Tony tonight and at this point I am not the least bit worried about our backup QB situation. If Bledsoe goes down I am comfortable that Tony can do the job.

Very good point ...... its easy to let some people on this board and their agendas blur the big picture ....

Romo has shown something in a game ...... and he looked great doing it
And he did it despite missing T.O. during the entire game, Glenn for the majority of the game, and still no running game.

I'm not saying he's a Pro Bowl Qb or the next great Dallas Qb but his performance was something positive and it was nice to see that maybe, just maybe, we might have something.
