Probably the worst pass rush we've had against anyone all season long.

Rivers looked pretty comfortable all day, minus the Bowen sack.

I'm not kidding you. Two of Romo's TD passes came in meaningless situations at the end of the game this week and last week. Not counting those, he led the offense to 17 and 10 points two weeks in a row. Now, I admit that its not his fault, but it also illustrates that he's not playing at such a level where he can take over a game like Farve or Brees or Manning or Brady.

This post is a joke, at best. You don't think every QB has these? It's part of the game. Every team gets and gives this. You think those guys have the same kind of sh*tty pass protection? You think they have the same kind of sh*tty plays? Do you even watch the games? I'm surprised the guy is alive to play every week, let alone have the yardage he puts up. The guy has stepped it up since committing to take better care of the ball. Too bad the rest of the team hasn't made the same commitment.

Yeah because Favre really took over against Arizona.

And Brady really took over against the Ronnie Brown-less Dolphins.

Epic.

0 wins
2 losses

60 of 85
641 yards
5 TD's
0 INT's
0 fumbles
111.9 rating

but not enough

I agree, his playing lights out, but the truth is that 2 of the 5 TDs came in garbage time...

Pulling within one score late in the game is meaningless?

I take it you weren't a Cowboys fan way back in 2007?

No point questioning the length of a man's fanhood.
I prefer to think Die-In-A-Fire's just not very smart.

So after another depressing defeat, someone's highest priority is ... posting Tony's stats and absolving him of all blame. Way to keep your eye on the prize.
Show me the part in the OP's post where he absolves Romo of all blame. I'm having trouble finding it.

It seems to me that he's posted stats showing the Romo is playing pretty well. Those stats certainly point to something better than "bus-driver" status, if nothing else.

I really dont get it. Everyone was saying how Romo sucks in December all his fault, so he goes ahead and improves his game and its still not enough.

Is he going to have to start winging it and taking more chances?? His INT will go up, but maybe the offense can put up more than 17 points if he just lets loose??? I dont know, I just dont get it.

I feel sorry for Romo. He's doing great this year, and lately is doing the one main thing he needed to do, which is cutting down on the turnovers.

Unfortunately he has been tutored the last couple of years by somone who isn't ready for the job. Romo has been called a Jedi? Well, Garrett is the inexperinced Obi-Wan who was too inexperienced and unprepared to mentor him.

mmm, not sure about that, Garrett has taught him well, only 7 INTs this year, 22 TDs, over 3500 yards passing. Problem is, the rest of the coaches haven't gotten their players to improve.

Romo has called better plays in 2 no-huddle drives in two weeks than Garrett's called since early November with weeks of film and preparation time. :lmao:

Agreed. The problem to me is... Romo is not a system QB. Garrett and Aikman played in system. Romo needs more flexibility, freedom etc... He cant ALWAYS be in the pocket. THAT is part of the teams downfall.

Like I said before, Romo's chance to win SBs is being decimated by the lack of coaching and team that surrounds him. This makes me pity him because he's improved his game, although he should have had a few picks today. The rest of the team isn't helping him. He's hardly even close to being the centerpiece of the December collapses.

This is true, head coaching-wise. Garrett has made strides with him but needs to let him go(see above) when its there.

Yeah and I believe he had 3 against Giants in game 1. So it is major improvment. He was gun shy for a few games after Game 1 loss to Giants but he has done very well. One thing that doesnt show up in stats is he misses some VITAL, EASY passes. Not ragging on him, just wanted some of those completions.

The Chargers won the battle at the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Romo played well except for those nearly INT's. Gotta factor those into his stats.

Maybe in the passing game, but we were ramming the ball down their throats. They weren't getting any yardage on us on the ground in the beginning. Sigh, just a wasted opportunity.

Agree. Romo stepped up, the team hasn't come along for the ride. Seems like the opposite of last year. Romo had issues, the team seemed to be there. The law of averages says we'll all be on the same page one day...when will it come.

it absolutely isnt opposite....the D and ST let this team down alot more than Romo did 2007 and 2008.....and it appears this season as well

Romo is not a championship level quarterback, but he is not the reason we lost this game. Our miserable coaching staff is the reason e loss the game. Week after week they get out coached, and after the game is over they have a million lame excuses

I disagree.....do you think the Mannings, Brady or Ben would be if they had the same inept team that Romo has.....he is constantly having to recover from penalties, RB fumbles, missed blocking assignments, dropped passes, a D that cant hold a lead for 1 possession and missed FGs, ......how many times do we see him lead the O down the field for 7 and watch the D or ST give it right back on 5 or fewer plays?..and thats not to mention coaches....without him we would be getting blown out on a weekly basis but he keeps us in it.....

Eh that's just the Cowboys being the Cowboys. Bunch of players who fail to deliver when they really need it.

A few quick-hitting thoughts...

* I hate the "almost-interception" crap. Rivers threw two or three "almost intercepted" passes too (in addition to the actually intercepted ball). They matter nada. Touchdowns/interceptions have a way of working themselves out. Romo shouldn't have been picked off on a pass that clicked off Witten's heal, and he probably should have been picked off today. It happens.

* I don't think Romo starred today as well as the stats would indicate (I thought he was balls-out last week), but he gave the kind of performance I'd gladly take from him in just about any game this time of the year. He could have played better, as evidence by the lack of points we put up. But he definitively is not the problem -- no more than Ware is for not sacking Rivers today, or Witten is for not finding the end zone.
