Romo's last drive

Romo hating aside, he did look good on that drive. I always thought the guy had another year or 2 under him if those morons could figure out how to protect him.
Yeah too bad the team never invested anything in the o-line

That's still 2 more than are in Dak's arsenal.
He is getting better. To be honest he plays better as the season goes and Amari will help him a lot AS LONG AS the coaching staff is creative using motions, bunching, slot use, picks, screens and a much more extensive route tree. If not its going to be another 8-8-11-5 team that won't go anywhere and then you can bet your arse that big changes will come.

They didn’t until the end of Romo’s career. You know this correct?

He also didn’t miss the majority of 2 years with injuries until the end of his career - after the team had invested heavily in the O-Line.

Besides, what you said was you felt he had another year or two if the “morons” could figure out how to protect him, and, of course, that extra year or two would also have been after the team had invested heavily in the O-Line.

I think his body had been beaten down by then.

On a side note: it's insane we were 13-2 going into that game after losing Romo and dropping the season opener.

It didn't amount to anything, but still, hard to believe.

Romo blows, if he was as good as you people think he was he would have won more than a handful of playoff games. Actually, a handful is being generous. Romo continues to grow as a legend once he retired.

Maybe, but that’s life as a QB. It’s not unique to Romo. Aikman got beat down to and had to retire because of repeated concussions. Same with Staubach.

Nor is it unique to the Cowboys that a QB can take a lot of hits. Brady and Favre, for example, get/got sacked at a similar pace as Romo, but survived it and played much longer, and took many more sacks over their careers. Elway got sacked at a notably higher rate than Romo and lasted much longer, plus he took hits as a running QB. Roethlesberger has been sacked 40 times or more in 6 seasons, including one where he was sacked 50 times. Romo’s high is 36.

Bottom line is Romo did not take hits a notably greater rate than other QBs, his body just didn’t hold up.

Williams let him down. Should have been an 80 yard TD. The ball got over the defender who ended up on the ground. If Williams wasn't daydreaming on his stroll through the park, he gets a jog in TD.

Really too bad Tony didn't get a chance in 2016. Even after sitting all but the last game, he came out sharp and in command.

What were they thinking signing that Carroll guy? That was some sorry coverage.

I went back and watched as Tony came off the field. The Clapper comes out on the field to shake his hand. Romo stares ahead and walks by. They did a slo mo of Romo walking by around 6min.
Romo come back 2020

Brady got sacked more than Romo on average?
I realize Romo was great at avoiding sacks, which sometimes left him even more vulnerable....but I didnt think he was that elusive. Brady has had really great protection most of his career, but he is immobile.

All true, and I'm not arguing your point, but I do want to point out that Big Ben is usually bigger than the guys who tackle him, and there's a rule that Brady has to be swaddled and laid down gently to nap, or it's a 50 yard penalty! :D

Absolutely being bigger and stronger helps a QB survive it, although Aikman was a pretty stout lad himself, but the point is that Romo’s health problems aren’t due to him not being protected as well as other QBs, it’s just that his body didn’t hold up as well as some others.
