Romo's start is two years overdue

I agree, but the way bledsoe had not played terribly last year and the way he played in preseason with this offense there was no justification to bench him for this season.

I agree, but what about the last game (or last two?) when we were out of playoff contention. Parcells should have at least given him a look. I know a lot of people on this board questioned that.

For what ever reason Parcells was not ready to put him in. He is playing now that should be good enough

No, he's not. He's 6 games overdue.

The reason we are all so excited abot the kid is because he was able to develope. He's had 4 years to see what NFL defenses do in film sessions. He knows the offense. He's played a bit. The guy has everything except for playing experience, and you gotta start somewhere.

BP didn't want to throw either guy out there (Henson and TR) because he said they weren't ready. I dont think he just said it for no reason.

The reason many are excited about Romo is because he isn't Bledsoe. The backup QB is always the most popular guy on the team. Lord knows he hasn't done anything on the field for us to get excited about.... YET.

I dunno, he played nearly flawlessly in the pre-season. Im tellin you, the kid is special. TO holds onto that 4th and 2, we escape with a win or lose VERY narrowly.

you don't think romo can come is and win now, but you think he was ready to play two years ago?
ok, i understand...............................................

I agree. I like Romo and I'm hoping for the best but everyone loves the backup

Getting benched isn't about justification at this stage, it's about moving on. I'm saying if we were going to move on, just do it from game 1 and skip the drama.

Well don't forget Romo also threw 2 picks that cost us TD's. I would like think we would have won that game and Romo did do some good things but he did have some poor plays that hurt any comeback from taking place.

drew probably deserved the Jax start but i'd have went right to Romo without a doubt after philly... so that is only 2-5 games overdue max.

most sensibly would have been Romo at the bye so that was 2 games (and Romo played 1/2 the gints game)

I don't see us going to the Superbowl because he lacks the experience every QB needs for this league. I never said we wouldn't win. I think we will win some games because of Romo, and we will also lose some games because of Romo. Some posters have corrected me by saying he wasn't ready two years ago, and I accept that.

I doubt we win that game with Bledsoe. He had 1 good drive in the 1st half. It was pathetic. We couldnt run, so where the hell was anything going to come from? NY teeing off on Bledsoe because we consistantly were in 3rd and long?

I did not say that in some sort of defense of Bledsoe. All I'm saying is while TO drop was big Romo made some big mistakes as well and those mistakes resulted in 14 fast points for the Giants. One by our own endzone and one that went 70 something yards the other way. So don't take this as some sort of save the Bledsoe comment this is not about Bledsoe.

I know this. Im just saying, it sounded like you said the switch ultimately cost us the game (or at least the fact that the guy who came in made some costly mistakes). I agree. Romo did some bad things. But he also did alot of good things. I mean for a guy who was put on the spot, came in there, and had to show something, he really did. NY was not sitting back, they came after him, and he responded. This was live action, bullets flying, and I think he did admirably for a guy who has never played a meaningful snap before then.

I wasn't trying to accuse you of defending Bledsoe by any means.

You can't look at it as if Romo is 3 years overdue.

If he's successful now, a lot of that had to do with handling him the right way and letting him learn the way all the old QBs used to do it. The league has seen a ton of young guys who were ruined by playing too early.

If Romo is good, just be thankful and be willing to give Parcells some credit for grooming him and having him ready when we need him this year.

Exactly. Parcells convinced him to come to Dallas when he had an opportunity in Denver. We coached him carefully for a few years and developed a street free agent into someone capable of starting for a team with playoff talent at many positions.

At the end of the day, if BP started him a few weeks too late, it's not the end of the world. Rivers is doing ok in SD, and he's got a very similar situation. Gradkowski's turned things around in Tampa, and Romo's got a better cast around him here in Dallas than he does. A new QB really needs solid defense and a decent running game to be able to manage.

I can't imagine writing off the season at this early stage.
