Romo's Wheels.

ive seen an interview where tony said he had a terrible day at the combine, and wore the wrong shoes so he sliped on both 40s

I thought this was going to be a thread about Romo's car, i'm disappointed, I wanted to see what he drives.

first inline for the 2009 Camaro SS/Z28 :D

No, he's at least 4.7 or 4.8 speed. Aikman ran a 4.7 for crying out loud.

Aikman's speed was underrated in his prime. He wasn't elusive like Romo but he was pretty fast in a straight line once he got going. Romo has quick feet and elusive as heck but his top end speed isn't as fast as Aikman's.

Y'know, having seen the replay of "the play" over and over the last 24hrs+, I did notice one thing...

If Romo had turned upfield as he neared the 1st down marker, he had bockers and could have picked up more yards, if not scored. You wanna talk about the legend growing...if that had happened...oh man

I saw that too. No secondary defender wanted to come off of their guy cause Romo would've found them - and also there was room to the right of Barber, had Romo wanted to do more damage, but I think he was thinking about the time on the clock as well and wanted to get out of bounds.

Romo is not fast. He probably still runs a 5.0 in the 40. He is quick and he can accelerate to his top speed in a couple of steps. For most QBs their top straight line speed is one of the least important skills. Look at the way Romo plays and you can see that he rarely has to run full speed for such a long period of time. It is mostly a few quick steps and then pass the ball.

I saw Bledsoe run full speed a few times and Romo did not look faster than him. The problem with Bledsoe was that he was not quick enough or coordinated enough to get away from pressure consistently. Nor did he have pocket presence. He could not sense where the pressure was coming from. That is one of Romo's strengths.

You dont out run LB who run a 4.6 if you run a 5.0. Hes not fast but he definately is quicker then a 5.0.

How many times has Romo had to actually outrun a LB in a straight line? Most of the time he slides or side steps and the defenders have to change direction to chase him. I am not worried about his top end speed any way because he rarely is in a situation where it matters. I will take everything else he brings to the table. Not everyone can be as perfect a QB as Staubach. :D

If Romo was a 4.7-4.8 guy he actually may have scored or got the 1st down on the botched snap in Seattle.

Romo is not a fast guy as far flat out running but he knows how to use the skills he has.

My GF said that the object of the play may have been to get the 1st down, then the bad snap, fumblin' stumblin'...but his focus was still to get the 1st down. He could have forced it to a guy, but...w/ that much time and defenders on the men... Going for (not settling for) the 1st down was likely the best thing (sign that he's not always a go-for-broke gunslinger...but a thinker out there)

it's a good point and one that I like...the kind that can keep mistakes down
