No one will trade for him. More high hopes than anything.
He's an above average, young starting guard. He's better than anyone who you will pick in the third round.

Good depth, I like it.

Opening up a world of possibilities, Cowboys guard Ron Leary signedhis restricted tender amount, guaranteeing him a heftysalary for a backup lineman.
The Cowboys placed a second-round tender on Leary, meaning that if a team agreed to sign him as a free agent, they would have to send Dallas a second-round pick.

Definetely a trade chip.
Who needs a offensive guard at the end of the 1st?
I would love it if we could trade him and turn him into Nick Martin.

I don't really know how the whole trade tender thing works. So if a team wants him, they have to give us a 2nd rounder? But if we package him in a trade during the draft, will he (in theory) be worth a 2nd rounder? Doesn't that sort of bypass the whole 2nd round pick thing? If we package him in a deal, can it only be for a 2nd round pick straight up or can it be whatever deal both teams agree to?
Probably nobody at the end of the 1st if they could have signed him at the expense of a pick at the end of the 2nd.
If he is traded, only his salary is relevant. I would hope they at least get a 3rd-round pick.
Based on this report and the rumors that we're trying to trade back in the 1st round, it looks like we might actually be trying to stockpile picks. I'd be very happy with that. I've said for months that the talent in this draft isn't very top heavy. Some of the best players in the draft, in my opinion, are mid-1st and 2nd rounders.
I am happy with stockpiling picks, as long as they're going all out to get as many in the top 100 as they can. We don't need more 4th-7th round long shot "we're smarter than you" picks on this team.

all this says is that he is looking for a trade - doesn't mean we are looking to trade him
and honestly, a guy with a questionable knee who lost his job last year but is getting a substantial salary, not going to be a ton of interest involving any sort of value pick
He does have the knee issue but outside of that he would be a great piece for most teams.
You go back and watch 2014 endzone cams and Leary was an absolute standout. He is one of the better guards in football.
