Makes some sense, but nobody had better get hurt.

That could get Dallas into the first round tonight again though. The Cowboys high #2 pick and Leary to get to 19 to take Paxton Lynch?

That's what, like 15 spots? That's an eternity in the first round. We'd probably have to give up Leary and our 2+3. A 2+4 minimum.

No one is giving up the #19 pick for the #34 pick plus Leary. We may need to throw in another 3rd rounder to move up to #19. Or Dexter Coakley.

Just because the Cowboys don't value depth on the team doesn't mean we shouldn't.

It's not about devaluing depth at all. It's about roster construction. Leary is a starter on most teams (not Dallas because he isn't better than Collins or Martin) and an asset for trade purposes since he will not start or even be active if everyone is healthy. Leary has no position flex (can't play Center or Tackle) plus Dallas could use extra bodies on DL for the 1st four weeks at least.

Dallas can draft a player this weekend who can add depth at less than 2.5mil and said player may become a solid starter type that may be a trade asset down the line as well.

Leary deserves a chance to start somewhere and Dallas deserves to get max compensation for him in the process.

How about our 2 and 6 and Leary to get up to 25 to take Jerran Reed, Sheldon Rankins, or William Jackson III?

I'd love that.

DB, QB and DL (in no particular order) in the first 3 rounds would be an amazing draft in my opinion.

They signed a swing G/C in free agency and will likely draft a development G/C as well. What's the point in paying a guy $2.5M to sit at home on game days?

Veteran players are at their lowest trade value in the weeks leading up to and during the draft. The time to trade him is during OTAs or camp after you have identified a viable replacement and another team is desperate for a starting guard.

I don't think 6 really have any value. 6 rounders are basically lottery picks.

There's going to be a lot of guys at our 2nd pick. But if a top tier prospect falls, especially a defensive player like those DL that can play at a high level for 13 years, I think the 2+4 and Leary would be worth it. Whether it's Elliot or Ramsey at 4, then another guy like Rankins/Reed/Dodd would be worth the 4 imo. I actually like WJIII a lot, but the board would probably blow up if we took 2 DB's. It would solve our looming secondary situation though and a Jones/Ramsey/Jackson trio of athleticism, size, and length in the backfield to build around would be pretty awesome.

for 2nd round tender. I don't accept anything but 2nd rounder for him. He is starter on most teams.

If we trade our second and third to move back into the first, I wonder if we can get a third for Leary?

He's a solid starter, which is more than any team is guaranteed to get in the third round.

which surprises me because we signed Looney in FA, who can play guard and center.

I know, just passing on what I heard. To be honest, I have no idea of the depth of centers in this draft and if I did, I wouldst start to worry.

He's probably carrying a value somewhere between a mid 3rd-mid 4th. A package with Leary and 34 is probably enough to get you into the 26-28 range. A package of Leary, 34 and 101 could probably get you up to the 22-24 range. These are estimating his value as a late 3rd-early 4th and basing the trade strictly off points value and not specific needs or willingness.
