We've already gone over this. A GM's job is to build a super bowl contender. Jerry has failed miserably at that, and has admitted so himself.

I don't think I mentioned Taco.

If you read Mo's scouting report and looked past all the hoopla about him, he was a major reach. I don't know what happened to make a CB who wasn't particularly fast or agile a top prospect, but that's not how it works.

It's not about counting busts.
I don’t disagree it’s a GMs job to build a contender. Cowboys failed though. So did everyone but two GMs and that’s Philly and KC.

I’m reading Mo’s scouting reports now everyone has him as the best corner in the draft and a top 10 pick. I don’t gauge a GM on moves like that. He was the right pick and the best at that position. I don’t see anything about him being “slow”. 4.43 isn’t slow.

I like Jerry the owner much more than Jerry the GM, but lets not forget not only did he buy the team and increase the club's worth astronomically, he also had the nuts to fire Landry and replace him with a college coach to boot.

Jerry the owner is responsible for hiring Jerry the GM.

I read it at the time. He sounded like a 3rd round pick.

Not true. Building a contender does not mean you will win, just that you'll be in the running. There are currently around 5-6 contenders, w/ several others a move or two away.

You see, what you're missing is that to become a true contender, there are certain moves that must be made to take the next step. Jerry has continuously failed at taking those next step, opting instead to pay a ton of resources for CBs and Wrs.

Pointing at someone's else's problems does not make your problems less.

So did Philly fail last year at building a team when they were terrible against the run just like we were? Were Cowboys not a contender last season? Or the season before?

And Mo was not a projected 3rd rounder. Show me one mock that had a 3rd round grade on him…Mo was not a reach…..talk about the Taco and Trysten Hill moves because those were reaches and fails but that’s not Mo.

His Pro day 40 yard time was hand-timed. At the combine his official 40 yard dash was 4.50 seconds. He is the only CB taken top 10 in the last 20 years that couldn’t run a sub-4.5 40 at the combine

Doesn’t matter. He was a projected top 10 pick for his coverage skills not his 40 time. He was not a reach which is the point not his 40 time.

Geez dude, read. No one said he had a 3rd round grade. Sheesh, it's like talking to a child.

Taco was not a reach. He was BPA. Just didn't pan out.

Hill was a major reach. That pick never made sense. That was like taking Escobar in the 2nd, Chaz in the 3rd, and trading up for MO. All in the same category.

You bring up a point about Mo being slow and saying you thought he was a 3rd is irrelevant. Cowboys had the worst secondary in the league and traded up for the best one. No one had a issue with it until hindsight.

Didn't Mo have a great combine that raised him up a bunch? I think I remember reading that Dallas never had any visits with him.

Well he does have 3 Championships in his first 5 or 6 years.

Can't just disregard that.

Winning championships is not easy.
How much is the team worth? He put it there.
