That's not true at all. He shows up on practice, he shows up in pre-season games. He has improved from last year to this year. Makes no sense to give up on him now.

But you can't play him. Doesn't cover kicks, and he's the fifth reciver at best. Wasted gameday roster spot.

He may not play much in the beginning, but once injuries mount up for the receivers, he should see significant playing time.

He will have to be on the field to "move the chains". How many snaps will he get as the 5th WR on a team that plans to emphasize the 2 TE set?

He was signed as a UDFA just last year. It's a bit early to label him as always injured.

You're overthinking this thing with the 12 formation. The emphasis on the 2nd tight end comes as a replacement to the fullback traditionally used in the 21 formation that we are more familiar with. It doesn't mean anything about three or four receiver sets.

I'd also go as far as to challenge the idea that he is the 5th receiver. I think at the moment he is the clear cut #4 and the #2 slot receiver.

I expect we'll see him get plenty of snaps in 3rd and long situations especially. His value goes up much higher in the case of ANY injury to any of the top 3 receivers as well, which is almost certainly going to happen.

Didn't the op just slame the offensive line as 5 JAG's in another thread?

Regardless of whether the TE is lined up as a TE or FB, there will only be 2 WRs on the field in those formations.

The only time they will have 4 WR is if they go empty backfield because Witten has basically played 100% of the possible snaps when healthy in the past.

They will probably have 3 WRs on the field for less than 10 plays per game. If Beasley is the #2 slot guy, then how many of those 10 does he play? Lets say he gets half and plays 5 snaps per game. Is that worth having him active if he can't play special teams?

Things are taking shape, and I'm pleased to say, I think this roster represents some really solid depth across the board that we haven't seen in recent years. Good players will get cut, certainly a couple that you may wish you hadn't one day. That's a good sign.

I think the picture becoming pretty clear, so with that said, here's my stab at the 53 that SHOULD make this team. Notice how, suddenly, there is depth in the offensive line!

With that, please stay healthy, boys!

QUARTERBACKS - 2
Tony Romo
Kyle Orton

RUNNING BACKS - 4
Demarco Murray
Joseph Randle
Lance Dunbar
Philip Tanner (too good on special teams to let go and carry three)

TIGHT ENDS - 4
Jason Witten
James Hanna
Gavin Escobar (worried about this pick; won't suit out many gamedays)
Dante Rosario

WIDE RECEIVERS - 5
Dez Bryant
Miles Austin
Terrance Williams
Dwayne Harris
Anthony Armstrong (much sturdier and faster than Beasley)
OFFENSIVE LINEMEN - 9
Tyron Smith
Ronald Leary
Travis Frederick
BRIAN WATERS (Got to make this happen, Jerry)
Doug Free
Phil Costa
Jermey Parnell
Mackenzy Bernadeau
Nate Livings (costs us against the cap anyway, and I want Arkin gone for good)

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN - 9
Demarcus Ware (about to have his best season as a pro)
Jay Ratliff
Jason Hatcher
Anthony Spencer
Kyle Wilber
Nick Hayden
Ben Bass
Sean Lissimore
George Selvie

LINEBACKERS - 7
Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Ernie Sims (I think he starts over Durant; great camp from Sims)
Justin Durant
Alex Albright
Devonte Holloman
Brandon Magee

CORNERBACKS - 5
Brandon Carr
Mo Claiborne
Orlando Scandrick
Sterling Moore (this guy is a player)
B.W. Webb (lot of inactive gamedays ahead for this guy)

SAFETIES - 5
Barry Church
Will Allen
JJ Wilcox
Matt Johnson (oy, dude, this is your last chance)
Eric Frampton

SPECIALISTS - 3
Dan Bailey (bless this man)
Chris Jones
L.P. Ladoucer

Beasley will make it and BW Webb is going to the PS at this rate. He is terrible right now

Totally disagree on Escobar. Barring injury he will be active each week. No way they go into a game with only three TE when they are committed to running a 2 TE set as the base offense

Smacks of racism to say Beasley makes the 53 because he is white. That is stupid. He makes the 53 because he makes plays period. As Dez says the guy just gets open that's what he does.

How about giving a small guy credit for working hard and finding a spot in a big mans game instead of banging on his skin tone?

He's short and white. Therefore, he's got to be our version of Wes Welker.

Well he's relatively short compared to most WR's and he is white, yes. But it is more the fact that he is quick and has great feet, I don't know if you saw the touchdown pass from Orton in the last game but he basically left the defender flat-footed as he ran back. That's shift folks. He's also just fast enough to create a little bit of separation.

If we only carry five receivers, I think Armstrong maybe could make it through waivers to the practice squad. I think if Beasley went on waivers, he would be picked up by another team and be gone for good.

Beasley is 100% in.... Carrying 4 RBs and 4 TEs isn't going to make it easy on some of the bubble guys at other positions. But in my opinion they definitely need to carry a 5th Saftey with Johnson's health issues and the uncertainty of Church/Wilcox and Allen. They are all kind of question marks so Danny McCray would probably be the best option that they have in camp right now as the 5th Saftey.

Guess you don't take into account injuries - Miles Austin ring a bell? He's always one play away from sitting out the rest of a game. You can't pull Beasley from the inactive list or the PS to finish that game. Dez gets banged up too on occasion and Harris as a kick returner is open to the same. That's why you want 5 good receivers on the team.

Besides if a guy produces in a limited role more opportunities open up. Even if Beasley only catches 2 or 3 passes a game but they lead to big drives or scores he's worth it.

He's a good WR period. A definite asset to the 53 and would be picked up in a snap if the Cowboys were dumb enough to PS him. Which they're not

Yup. I'm amazed by how much both he and Harris are dumped on around here. Like every guy has to be a prototype #1 WR. News flash we have Dez who is a beast and then we have other guys who can chip in with big plays from time to time. Mst teams would kill to have Harris and Beasley as "undersized 4th or 5th WRs"
