Do some research and you'll see that there are very few options in FA and the draft to fix the pass rush. That's my point. They wouldn't touch Williams at DE and he signed a reasonable contract. They probably won't touch Ayers as he'll get more then Clayborn did (who the Cowboys also apparenlty weren't willing to pay).

The draft? There are mixed reviews on Bosa being a real pass rusher terror or more of a good strong side end. Spence is probably the other option but he's a big character issue. What's left in the draft is just guessing after that for pass rushers.

So it seems our strategy for fixing one of our owner's claimed biggest needs is cross our fingers and hope we get lucky signing some bargain bin DE turns into a 10 sack guy or some rookie taken in the 3rd round develops immediately into a total stud pass rusher.

PS - Thornton would be a decent pick up. But he's a run stuffer more likely to help at the 1 tech. He's in no way a solution to our pass rush problem.

They should have gone after Williams, Miller and Jenkins. At least give them an offer and let them decide.

The Romo era is not going to last for another 5 years. Even though some of the FA might not sign with Dallas at least give them an option. The FO would rather sign bottom feeders for very cheap rather than win the Superbowl.

Is Quinton Coples' career pretty much done? I'm not seeing his name on any lists (top 50 I get, but I have a hard time believing there are 100 FAs better than him before FA started).

Is he a bad character guy or lazy?

The Weddle one is the main acquisition that I would prefer. But he has made it clear, he wants to play for a contender. So there's that hurdle to clear.

With a healthy Romo this team is one. This is when JJ needs to make stuff happen.

I've prepared myself for a lot of disappointment this year.

- Church still being here

- Carr still being here

- No QB at 4 because somehow Romo is going to stay healthy for the next 5 years

- Prescott at 34

- Probably overdraft Elliott in a panic move

All culminating with another disappointing season where Jerry sings the praises of our idiot head coach and we prepare for another offseason led by Garrett.

If those things happen we have. Pretty solid offseason. I see nothing wrong with getting a quarterback in Prescott or getting a running back.

Amini Silatolu is intriguing. Plays at pro bowl level when healthy, very aggressive, very nasty, very athletic. And versatile, can play all OL spots (even in a pulling OL like the Cowboys), possibly even center too.

I'd be in favor that that one. Due to his injury history the last few years, his contract demands should be reasonable.

I'd also consider taking a flyer on Andre Branch as a rotational option at DE.
