Champ's play has certainly merited "Rod Woodson" comparisons. He would instantly turn our defensive backfield around and I also personally think his presence back there would be good for Mike Jenkins and Scandrick.

Champ Bailey and Huff at safety, backed by AOA. Then draft CB Williams from Texas in the second round, to go with Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins, and Orlando Scandrick.

That would leave Sandejo, Church, Ball, McCray, Weaver, and McCann to fight out for the final positions.

Just go get Asomugha. He is 3 years younger than Champ and 5 years younger than Charles Woodson. He is also the biggest of the three.

Based on the overall play of those two, Asomugha will play at a high level at CB for the next 3 to 5 years at which time you can convert him back to Saftey which was the position he originally played for the Raiders.

Just a thought.

I think Champ would be a terrific FS, and I'd sign him to a fairly lucrative deal to play there if it was my choice. 33 is not old for a safety. Darren Sharper had 9 INTs in 2009 at age 34.

Yeahhhh....actually, its the complete opposite of what you said. He said he'd be more than willing to move to FS to prolong his career.

So the ? would be, would you rather just get another cornerback either in the draft or free agency and move TNew to Safety or just sign Champ and keep TNew at corner?

Personally, I would like to see what Bailey could do at FS and keep Tnew. I think with the addition of Ryan we will start to see a more physical and aggressive Defense and TNew would be okay for a while. And still draft a corner for replacement in the future.

Because Rod Woodson was able to play later into his career does not mean Bailey will do the same. There are more guys who start to slow down at that age than those who beat the odds. I'm not opposed to Bailey but I think you really have to careful and make sure you know what you are getting before making a deal.

I would pass on Bailey.

I agree. Unless you get a guy like a Brooking who was a stop gap for a short contract. Big contracts with old guys you run a big risk
