i agree !! i say we feed him that " one biscuit" and play him at LB next year!!

Yeah, cuz we don't have nearly enough LBer's.

Not that I have the answer or anything.

he never turns the right way...he sucks as a defender, i would trade him after the year is out for a 1st round pick and get a real SS in here...i dont care how much he can tackle...he gives up way more than we can handle

If he is as bad of a player you say he is no one will give us a 1st rounder.

Roy plays safety.[/QUOTE]

EXACTLY!

So why is he biting on a freaking double fake!

DON'T GET BEAT DEEP! Never get beat deep, Especially if you are the SAFETY! Does that last word mean anything. Why do you think they've called it SAFETY?

And I'm sure if research your Smithsonian of a football mind you may remember that.

I think that you just made an argument for yourself.

And just like superman you blow a lot of wind.

Because he is a play maker and when he sees his teaming suffereing to make a play he takes it upon himself to try and cover for it. So he sees the front 10 being chewed up with screens so he wants to make sure he can stop the play. He is trying to do too much, and in the end not doing enough.

It is time we moved Roy to WLB. He makes some plays as a safety, but he gets killed too often. We need a QB back there, and Roy (hate to say it) isnt the guy.

Almost like Thomas Davis.. but shorter

i think roy would be one of the best lbs in the game if we moved him there. he is best around the line of scrimage and he can cover tes.

we should never ask him to play deep. on that play, it should have been the fs out there. that play did not setup well for roy.

As entertaining as that overly simplistic outlook on a safety's responsibilities is, it's not accurate. Watch other team's sometimes. If the opposition has time to pull off a double fake, and still allow the QB to stand in and deliver a dart without a hint of pressure - every safety in the league is getting beat. All of them.

Payton knew Roy Williams is a coverge liability. He knew the same about Davis, and wanted Davis mainly for his special teams play.

So, he picked the underneath to the backs and TE's, then simply went over the top on our weak coverage safeties.

Don't think for a moment that other teams we play will not follow his blueprint to a tee.

Can turn his hips for @#$*.... Sure a sold hit is a highlight once every five games but OU roy didnt weigh 240. Still my favorite player but man, I am tired of the same old story with him. Love the shots but would trade them all for just being quicker in the hips..

I actually agree, I've thinking this for a while, don't know about 20lbs, that seems like a lot, but maybe 10, just whatever he was back in his Rookie year. He could still knock you out, but if you look at his legs now, his thighs are so bulky, no way could he have optimal balance and acceleration.

Don't blast me, that's just my little theory, no reason for him to be as big as bulky as he his. I love Roy, he was one of my favorite players until I started seeing these coverage problems (in his rookie year I would have argued he had very above average coverage skills for a SS, at least to that of Brain Dawkins).

But I'm not a coach, nor a trainer, so I'm sure they would know better. I'd like to see it happen.

i don't know what any coach could see in Roy that warrants his contract or hype. Old timerslike Waters say he's a disrupter because "the offense always knows where he is" but that is a farce... half those oldtimers (who i greatly respect) will then spew on TO.

They always know where Roy is because they look to mismatch him in coverage or in teh flats where he can't cover, takes horrrible angles or tries to arm tackle 230Lb RBs.

QUit Making excuses for Roy... Not many can but he cant let him get behind him. 2 slow recognizing the route or TOO SLOW breaking on ball.. Either you can credit his lack of route recognition in a cover 2 OR him being overweight. I wouldnt want 240 lbs running with a 15 yard head start at me , thats why he is feared. Not because he has 5 picks that were thrown to him.

His 5 picks were not thrown to him, are you on crack? most of them came when he was on the defensive left side, helping henry and ran across the field due to Keith sucking and falling down

I guess you guys totally missed Madden's constant harping on the time the Drew Brees had to throw the ball?

At one point, Madden even reminded us what Parcells said about Canty and Spears in his PC and offered some explainations about Canty's play (playing too high etc etc).

If the opposing QB has time to bake a cake and hand deliver it to each member of the offense, your Secondary has no chance at all.

Roy Williams and Keith Davis are absolute spares in coverage and took horrible angles on the football last night, but if you had a more stout pass rush those flaws are not as evident.

Personally, I think Keith Davis should be restricted to special teams, he is just horrible in Coverage and run stop.

yeah, i vaguely remember a play where it was thrown to Keith and he jumped for the ball...but...yeah was about a 2 feet short for it...no hops, put in watkins

Not only that, Payton was having a field day running screens... the last drive, if I remember correctly, Bush just ran like a 45 yard screen for a TD...

Roy WIlliams was probably trying to decide which side of the field to cover the damn screen play that Dallas couldn't stop for anything...

That ones on Zimmer, NO was tossing it to Bush over and over and he kept blitzing the OLB on that side of the field leaving no one out there to cover Bush. Talk about stupid, they hadnt ran the ball once with Bush and he already caught 4 passes in the flat prior to that. Zimmer is clueless when it comes to in game awareness and making quick changes on the fly.
